Title: S&W 686-3 silhouette

A buddy recently found this nice 686-3 with the silhouette front sight at the LGS. I’m a little jealous.

Beautiful revolver. I only have two S&W revolvers and just recently got into them. What is the deal with the front sight?

I believe the front sight can be pre set at four different distances so you don’t have to fiddle with the rear sight when you progress farther (for example 50/100/150/200 yds)
