Owned a CZ-75D compact and I love this gun. I shoot better than with my.9mm Shield.
However, using a variety of manufacturers' factory target ammo, I have experienced four jams, over the course of 2 months with only about 500 rounds. The first malfunction I could not move the slide. I returned the gun to the store I purchased it from and they were able to remove the unspent round and show me the problem with the full metal jacket round.
My neighbor who practices dry fire, and laser fire averages about 500-700 trigger pulls weekly. The firing pin retaining pin malfunctioned and we replaced it. I upgraded the guide rod from factory to steel, an extended firing pin, and a new firing pin, retaining pin. Today, got a jam using Remington Target .9mm ammo,
Any ideas would help. I would like to use my CZ as a carry gun, but I am concerned regarding its reliability.

Cz's have a short leade, they were designed to run NATO fmj cartridges. Your going to have to plunk test loaded cartridges to make sure they will run in your gun. Not all bullet profiles are a good shape for the cz chamber. If they are loaded long, they will jam into the lands and lock up your gun as you described.
The firing pin retaining pin is a weak link in the design especially if you dry fire a bunch without using an oring in the hammer channel. The cgw pin is far superior to the OEM pin but it still should be inspected annually.
The design had been proven for over 45 yrs. The flaws are well documented and easily fixed.
Cheers,
Toby

You can throat ream the chamber using a Manson reamer. You only need to remove a small amount of material and for three of my CZs this was only two complete no pressure turns. Cost $40 bucks and some cutting oil from Ace Hardware. Took 15 min. mostly getting everything prepped to not put oil on my garage floor.
Well worth the investment if you shoot CZs or SIGs. Both have short throats.
No adverse effect on accuracy, two of the three it actually improved.

Gotta love it when newbies post a problem as their first post and never check back for the solution. ::)

Oh, they probably checked back, but didn't bother to post a "Thank you!" for the information.

Being a newbie myself. I find that some replies can be considered curt. This thread was not.

Here is some good information from this site in regards to ammunition for CZ/DW firearms:

Like tdogg mentioned, you are going to have to "plunk" your rounds; at least, if you are like me and do not want to modify your weapon's chamber. I've gone so far as to take a pistol's barrel to the store with me.
I personally use Federal P9HST2 as a carry load in my PCR. Previously, I used American Eagle AE9FP which is a flatpoint 147gn practice round that is a pretty good match for the HST. (My agency provides for qualifications). I said previously, because Federal recently changed the bullet profile so that some (not all) of the rounds will stick. Occasionally, I'll have one hang up on the feed ramp. What used to work, no longer does. Kinda freaked me out at first but there is nothing wrong with the gun. Rounds that are on the lower end of the length tolerance are ok, but not on the upper end. I have some older CCI/Blaser 115 gn that does fine, but that is no guarantee that "newer" ammunition you purchase will fit, depending upon where CCI is now sourcing their projectiles. Companies also seem to have relaxed their tolerances a bit. (I now bring my own ammunition when I need to qualify).
I reload so the issues with factory practice rounds are somewhat moot, but I still have to be careful with projectile selection. I have one combination that will feed fine in my 75's and P10's that I can't safely load to a short enough OAL for the PCR.
It's not a design flaw, its just the chambers are on the short end of the CIP/SAAMI specs and some bullet profiles/overall lengths are not compatible. Kind of a hassle now that ammo supply is a bit tight and you are stuck with what you can get. Its also a really bad time to get into reloading (If you were thinking of it). You can find 115gn 9mm (not 124 or 147) ammunition all day long, but primer and powder supplies are still really tight. I'm down to my last 4 pounds of BE-86 and I'm starting to sweat a little. Gave up on VV powders.
Good luck and I hope you find something that will work for you. The PCR is a fine weapon it just has a quirk. A weapon that will feed/load anything has issues of its own.

some people are "users" and so forth. Not sure about the OP, but i found that just being a "user" usually dont cut it and eventually you have to "learn" about what you are doing so you dont end up in deep doo-doo or worse.
Hopefully the OP will spend some time reading/listening/learning about the things he will do now and in the future.
also, as far a jambs, go, i understand wanting 10000000% reliable/perfect/best and so forth. To me, its puts the responsibility on the "tool" and not the user. Again, somethings that need to be learned and so forth.
And i know there are users on this board and every other board that will not allow a non-perfect/reliable gun in their stable. thats up to each user. They may figure out sometimes in the future, its not just he gun, but there is the USER and ammo and other things involved.
