Title: Field strip CZ 82
Post by: MikeJ on May 11, 2022, 08:10:04 PM
I'm unable to field strip my CZ 82.  Many thanks to those who responded to my original post.  I tried the suggestions -- magazine out, pull toward muzzle and down, pull down and toward muzzle -- nothing worked even though I put a lot of muscle into the pulling.  Now I'm wondering what kind of Pandora's box I might be opening if I drift out the pin located in the frame just forward of the trigger.  Anyone done that?

I pulled my CZ82 out just to check the motions and at first it didn't want to budge after removal of the magazine.

So I tried this:  magazine out, cocked, put the safety on and it came open easy.

Put safety off, removed the slide, put the slide back on, dropped the hammer.

Then afterwards, it came open easily without having to cock the hammer or set the safety.

I'm thinking that sometimes things just get a little stuck!

So I also went and tried that on my CZ83 which has always been difficult... and voila, it worked on it too!

Many thanks for your response.  I tried your suggestion regarding the safety but unfortunately it didn't work.  In fact, with the hammer cocked, putting the safety on doesn't drop the hammer.  I'm not certain that I have the safety all the way on, although the red dot is indeed covered.  Pulling the trigger with the safety on does not allow the hammer to fall.  FWIW, with the hammer down I cannot put the safety on.  Is that normal?

I have not tried to fire this gun so I don't know if it's functional or not.

Thanks again, and I welcome any further suggestions you may have.

Of course the hammer doesn't drop with the safety on.
It is at that point that you have to pull the trigger guard forward and then down .
After that put the safety off and then remove the slide.

Problem solved!  I cut a 4" piece off of an old broomhandle, used it through the trigger guard as a force multiplier, gave it a mighty pull and the guard popped down.  It took what I believe was an inordinate amount of muscle to accomplish what should have been doable easily without a gimmick, but perhaps it will become easier to do after having done it a few more times.

Many thanks to all who responded to my plea for help.
