The annual Army Day has returned to a neighborhood mall in Prague. Static and interactive displays both inside and around the grounds plus activities within the mall.

Not unexpectedly, it’s a bit of a hefty rifle when loaded up with accessories and before ammo to lug around all day.

Table with small arms used by the military police. The military police and airborne units continue to use the Glock 17 (which has been the case long before the P-10 series was in development). The Phantom was displayed by other units.

Czech DANA 152mm howitzers. As this caliber is not NATO compatible, these are due to be replaced by the French CAESAR and some of these systems and ammunition have already been transferred to Ukraine.

Outdated T72M4 MBTs. There’s a plan to send these to Ukraine while some older Leopard 2A4s will donated to the Czech Army ahead of a future purchase of the 2A7 version.

Makes me want to go join the Czech army just be able to shoot a Bren 2 PPS.
When I plan to visit, I'll see if I can be there during Army Den.
I had just finished my seedless rye bread with marmalade when I saw your photo of gulas and rye bread! Yum!

So cool, and that BREN 2 BR is my dream .308...dagnabbit. Ukraine seems to be a dumping ground for older and outdated equipment...that still seems to be working just fine! I like that field kitchen nifty set up - what is that dish, goulash?

Yes, goulash. Nothing fancy but nice chunks of tender beef in a tasty sauce. The WO standing there saw me taking a shot of the equipment and insisted that I try it (it was free) and I didn’t want to be a bad visitor. I rank it up there with SOS over white toast for comfort food out in the field [emoji3]My compliments to the soldier-chef.

Very cool! Can you imagine if they did that at a mall here in the states? I'd go for the militaria of course, but also to see all the snowflakes whimpering on the ground, curled up in the fetal position.....

This is often done on the Army’s birthday (14 Jun) on various installations and or at 4th of July celebrations. Do know it happens at Ft Lewis - now known as Joint Base Lewis McChord. There have been changes due to Covid and post 9-11 security, but it’s still done to a degree.
Think the Navy has something similar in NYC - Navy or Fleet week?

We did Fleet Week in San Fran back at the dawn of time when I was in the navy...held a rock concert on the USS Range flight deck, IIRC...there was a LOT of booze involved...One thing I do remember, during Fleet Week, if you were in uniform, your money was no good at the bars, everyone was buying us drinks. At least, that's what I think I remember...hazy...

Air Force brat here. Went to many, many "shows" when I was a kid.
But it would be nice if they did smaller presentations at public venues. Malls, schools, etc.
I was in the 2nd grade when I first fired an M60 machine gun (Seward AFB, TN) Got burned by an empty that hit me on the right bicep. Little did I know that I'd be carrying one and shooting it a few years later. Every time I watch Green Berets I'm reminded of the rides they gave us kids on those little 4WD "mules" used to carry equipment/people out to the C130's (that's what was at Seward AFB when we were there in 1965.)

Very cool and thanks for sharing. If our military had an event like this at a mall here in the US, it would send many people into a mental melt down seeing "weapons of war" thanks to our fear mongering media.

I am fortunate enough to only live about an hour away from the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning. It's basically a super-sized, permanent version of your Army Den Day, with displays from virtually every conflict the U.S. has been involved in. I try to make it there once a year, since they're always adding or swapping a few things. I can't recommend it enough - it's totally awesome.
And then there's the Sullivan Cup Tank and Bradley competition that they let spectators attend part of. My innards are still shaking from the one time I went :)

Planning to make it back to Georgia one day to visit the museum. I attended basic/AIT and airborne at Benning many years ago. Served as an 11B and 11C in OIF.
