Title: CZ 97 B mag spring screw
Post by: buddyd157 on June 04, 2022, 09:37:11 AM
Hey people, i took my 97B to the club Friday and it shot quite well, but when i got it home to do a field strip, the slide was jamming up on me.. it would not come off, not only that, but i could not pull the hammer all the way back..

like WTH is this nonsense?

once i got the slide off, i got a flashlight, looked as best as i could, and i found that the mag spring screw, had worked it's way out!

now on 1 video, the guy showing this, said that CZ either put loctite on it, or staked it...

mine had neither, just like the loaded chamber indicator's allen screw..!! (which i long ago, took off, and applied blue loctite to it.)

so today, i removed that mag spring screw, and applied blue loctite to that as well.

gun only has under 1,500 rnds, thru it, all 230 grain, and i got the gun in June of 2020 in fact, nearly 2 full years from the purchase date.

here is a much better web picture, than my lousy old camera can do....

it should have been staked at the factory

I would remove it, clean off the loctite and properly stake it. I've seen several new CZ's recently that didn't have that scew staked from the factory. CZ quality control has slipped noticeably in the last year or so.

I just looked at mine(2020 model) and it looks similar. Is it not staked on each side of the screw? What would a proper staking look like?

i don't know how to stake it.

so i did remove it, and apply Blue Loctite, and tightened down.

so in your first pic, those two divots in the frame on either side of the screw, those look like stake marks to me. It might not be the same type of centerpunch stake marks you may be used to, but anything that forces a bit of metal to hold the head of the screw should do it I would think. I guess I'm looking for an example of proper staking of the scre4w if your pic doesn't illustrate it.
