You have to wonder how a company can be happy about releasing a new model, charging as much as they do, for something that won't shoot good groups.
New FN High Power 9MM. $1400 (a little under that) for a gun that shoots 3 inch groups from a rest at 25 yds.
Springfield Armory Emissary .45 acp. $1400 (again, a little under and a few bucks cheaper than the FN pistol) that shoot 1 inch groups at 25 yds. from a rest.
If you've read the articles in that magazine you know they shoot multiple 5 shot groups with different ammo and then average all of that together to get the overall average.
That darn .45 sounds/looks interesting. The High Power? Nope. Nope. Nope.

I hear you. I have had and still have a Hi-power. Iconic, reliable, but not accurate. (3inch groups are fairly normal). I consider the Hi-power the great grandfather of the cz75.
You would think for that price point, they would have made the upgrades to make it accurate as well.
My hp was made in 1983. Runs well, no enhancements, just a couple of spring changes over the years. With my best reloads, 2 to 3 inch at 25 yards. I paid $400 for it. Wouldn't spend $1400 for one though.
I'll keep buying and shooting my cz's.

I sold my high power 3 years ago for good money. I somehow did not feel overwhelmed with the "legend" of high power. I also think that FN is not an innovative company. They sell their overpriced products to people considered as snobs. But their products are not good enough for real snobs.

Sir, you get the award for making me chuckle for the first time this morning.
I briefly looked at the High Power clone Springfield Armory has been advertising. For me it always comes down to "how does it shoot?" Not the same as does it go bang and put holes in the target.
For $1400 you could get a CZ and send it off for some really good upgrade work. Or buy one that came from the factory with a reputation for being really accurate.
I was impressed with the .45 being able to shoot three different brands/types of ammo so well.

I like Hi Powers. Then again I like 1911s more.
