Title: SP-01 Safety Question
Post by: viking499 on August 23, 2022, 08:31:27 AM
I feel like I should know this question, but my mind is drawing a blank.....

My new SP-01 safety model and my thumb are not cohabitating very well.  Which wider safety will fit the SP-01 frame and give my thumb more to get ahold of?

Thanks for the link.  So, it is just a standard 75 safety.  Ands those look expensive.........better check the used or take off market......or just learn to live with what I have......

Just replaced the standard SP01 safeties on two SP01 examples with these:
https://shop.cz-usa.com/0423250005.html

SKU 0423250005

I believe they are the old Shadow 1 style. On my two SP01s they dropped in without fitting. One SP01 has a stock sear cage + stock hammer with an extra strength CGW safety detent spring,  the other has a CGW pro package (self installed) + extra strength safety detent.

For me, they really improve the ergonomics of the safety, without the extra strength safety detent spring they might make the safety a little too easy to sweep off with the added leverage, depends on your use case for the gun.

I think you are correct about those safeties. I have the half width style on my SP-01 and it is a major improvement over the stock triangle wedge safety. Still I prefer the big gas pedal style so if you want a used one I would be willing to part with it for cheap and order another full width safety for my full on build.

What exactly does yours look like?

Here are some pic of a Shadow 1 safety.

My thumbs are not quite long enough to use or carry in SA. Safety is too far forward.

For carry optics, SA isn’t an option and it’s a pre-b setup so it will never be an EDC.

Hope images help. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220826/54d01301a6ddf7edd3e73bf6d64bc113.jpg)

I put flat safety’s on all my shadows , kept bumping the safety on when I draw and wouldn’t fire so eliminated them, problem solved !
