Hi,
At 10 yards with my firt 20 rounds from my new P-01... I got a Fairly decent group but the SA trigger pull is pretty bad. There were 2 flyers to the left and right caused by the weapon firing unexpectedly because for some reason the pull changed completely for no apparent reason.
Will the rigger pull get any better with a few hundred more rounds?
-
The CZ P01 WILL be reliable and accurate - they ALL are.
There are a number of reasons for it, but triggers on CZ hammer guns are generally mediocre and some are bad.
How is the DA pull? - the whole purpose for the P01 and its decocker design.
Normally, unless there is a case of mild grit, the trigger stroke would take 2 cases of ammo to see a real smoothing of the action. Hence all the threads about working on the trigger over time. That is also why there is such a cottage industry for Cajun Gunworks who make SUPERB parts.
The problem with the P01 is that it is a challenge to detail strip because of the decocker design. Completely doable, but it takes some skill and practice.

Typically the trigger WILL get better as it wears in. It will never get to be the great trigger you hear everyone rave about without after market parts or, at the very least, polishing the internals. The standard trigger is, IMO, a decent trigger but the design is old and new guns now come with fantastic triggers out of the box. The only way you get that is buying a custom or top tier CZ model. You are probably feeling the SA “hump” (it’s what I call it). If you watch the hammer action with an unloaded gun you notice the hammer doesn’t have a smooth release when you pull the trigger. It will move back then move forward before release. It takes some practice to master.

Get the CGW kit, it’s great. My stock SA pull wasn’t bad, but the reset was way too long. After the CGW upgrade, my SA trigger was a smooth 3.75lb with a 7.5lb DA, and the reset is cut in half. The trigger also stops right at the reset, so you can get quick follow up shots even if you fully release the trigger. The DA pull has some weird feeling, like there’s something loose in the trigger, I don’t really know how to describe it. But it functions just fine.

Do I need to order the whole CGW Pro upgrade ket for the P-01? or do just a smaller upgrade? I would certainly not mind getting a different trigger....
I have heard horror stories about messing with the stupid de-cocker sear cage.... Any way to avoid that?
-
Each component of the CGW kit serves a specific purpose. You don't need the whole kit but most end up doing it.
The sear cage is a headache but doable. There's how-to videos on Youtube. It sounds like polishing the internals would help you. It smooths out the trigger pull. 2 hours of polishing will accomplishing the same thing as a couple cases of ammo. I'd rather enjoy those cases with the smoothed out trigger pull.

I have the p01 omega and the omega kit is a lot cheaper than the pro package, so I just got the kit and kept the stock trigger. I didn’t find the sear cage installation that bad. CGW sells slave pin for the decocker models. I just cut up q-tip to use as a slave pin and it worked fine. You can also make a better slave pin using a roll punch. For the trigger installation, I used a toothpick as my slave pin and it worked fine.
If you don’t like the curved trigger, it would make sense to get the pro package. Just changing 1 part could affect the reliability of the gun. If you end up getting the kit, make sure to get the 15lb gold hammer spring just in case. I’ve had light strikes using the 12 lb blue hammer spring.

I have a P-01 Omega and its a great pistol. Put 500 rounds through it and a couple of thousand dry fire trigger pulls and then see how it feels.

What is the difference between the P-01 and the P-01 Omega? De-cocker vs Safety?
-
The omega can switch between decocker and manual safety. The regular p01 is decocker only.

My second Cz was a sp01 tatical ,terrible gritty trigger ..with the Cajun gunworks pro package and lots of polishing.I endeded up with 2.75 single action and 6 lb double action. On par with my cz custom shadow. The tatical with the fireing pin block has I little bit more take up but single action on both great.

How was the installation? The omega is easy, but I heard the others are more difficult. Which video did you follow?

I was thinking of trying to install the P=01 Pro package and the reach reduction trigger kit. I am not sure if the Pro package includes the more durable Firing Pin roll pin...
How hard is it to deal with the infamous Sear Cage?

Get a slave pin and it’s easy.

What internal parts do you need to polish to smooth out the action on a P-01?? What should I use to polish the rails rails and sear?

You do not need to go anywhere near the rails and there's nothing in the sear cage to polish either. Polish things like the hammer sides, trigger bar where it contacts the frame, inside the frame where the trigger bar rides, The hammer strut can be polished up as well. I use 2000-3000 grit auto body paper. You want only to polish and remove no metal nor change the contour of any parts. If you go too far you'll have a gun that won't run right and could be unsafe.
You can call CGW and they will walk you through most of this and they also have a tutorial on their website.

P01 decocker detail strip is not trivial - but doable. Watch some videos a few times and take your time.

Pro package includes the reach reduction kit so you don't need both. Also includes the more durable firing pin retention pin.
