Title: CZ Shadow 2 SA/DA to SA Only.
Post by: twotsos on December 09, 2022, 06:21:46 PM
I would like to get the trigger performance as close to my CZ75 TSO pistols as possible. Will converting it over to SA Only point me in that direction? I have installed an Eeman Tech kit but am not where I want to be with pull and reset travel.

I recently did an SAO conversion on my Shadow 2 and put in all the competition springs I could find.  I get around 800 grams for the trigger pull using a Lyman to measure it.  I don't own a TSO so I can't say how that compares.  But I'm at the limit of what I can improve other than polishing, or bending a spring to lighten it more. (I don't recommend bending a spring, it's just something I've heard of people doing)

Comp hammers reduce creep but don't do much to reduce the trigger pull weight.

The Eemann tech SAO trigger has pre and overtravel screws so you can customize the trigger to your liking.  They also have different LOP triggers, but you might need to import one to get the one you want.

Here are the upgrades to my Shadow 2 so you can compare:
Lighter sear spring
Lighter trigger return spring
Lighter trigger bar spring
11.5# hammer spring
CZC Comp hammer
Eemann tech SAO trigger
Removed disconnector
CGW extended firing pin / lighter spring
CZC Smooth Cocking firing pin stop plate

Thanks for your post. I've been doing a lot of reading on here, there's a ton of information. I think I know now what will take me to the limits of improving this pistol. Removing the creep is important and I know know what parts to order.

There are a few significant differences in the Tac Sport design and the CZ 75 variant design that influence the SA Trigger pull dynamics. How close one can get a 75 variant to a TS is a matter of the individual pistol that you start with, how far you are motivated to go and the individual shooters subjective assessment of the Trigger feel.

I suggest doing the tuning is stages and assessing things as you go. Each pistol can be different from the next, as can each shooters expectations. Converting to SAO while not required, dose simplify things.

Still waiting for the Eeman SAO trigger to arrive. Thanks to all that have replied to my post.

Looks like I purchased the wrong trigger to convert to SAO. I received the Flat SA/DA Trigger part# ET-130083   Guess the disco has to be place for this trigger to work properly?  Maybe I'll be staying SA/DA after all. Comments appreciated.

Hmmm well does the trigger have a pretravel screw?  If not then removing the disconnector will mean the single action will have a ton of take up.  Also the pretravel screw alone might not be enough to get it working nicely.

An SAO trigger sits differently in the frame and is designed to work with the disconnector removed.

The trigger only has the over travel set screw so I guess it's not going to work right in SA. Over the holidays I plan to do some more polishing and install this trigger and see if am satisfied with the way the pistol works. My original goal was to get this Shadow 2 to perform as close as possible to my two TSO's.   lots of other pistols to shoot with so I'll take my time with this project.  Thanks for your help. I should have do a little more home work before taking on this mod.

well dang, I just noticed your forumname so I think you really do know what a good trigger feels like. I am telling you - you can get really close to a TS trigger in a stock SP-01 with the right parts.
My first SAO conversion was on an old 75 frame in stages. The thread is still up but the pics are gone.

BUT....
I Just got through converting a 97B with the CGW SAO trigger and recorded the process in long format and put on Rumble (for the day when YT decides to make our install vids go  *poof)...
the 97s use the same action as the 75s so it very similar.
Here is that link to that video - I just ordered the rest of the parts for phase 3 & 4.

As for triggers, that sucks that you ordered the wrong part - but don't give up, it will be worth it in the end.
Here is my take on triggers...
the first one I got my hands on was a plastick fantastick SAO that someone gifted me at a local match. HOLY crap that made a HUGE difference, but I hated the bendy trigger...
ordered the CGW trigger and poof done...
Then I converted another gun and used the Armory Craft trigger. They are awesome. they have small texture on the trigger too if you like that. They have colored versions too. Dropped that in with the same CGW internals and poof - instant shooter.
When I was looking to build the 97B I wanted a Blue trigger but they were all $$$ and out of stock so I just went with CGW since I was buying other parts from them anyway.

I love letting new S2 CO guys finger bang my old ratty 75SOA or SP-01SAO at a match and watch their pants melt off when I tell them the triggerjob only cost me ~$200..
I'm torn on my next CZ - it will either be another bullshadow SAO or a TS, or another old beat up 75 that I will build up for some ridiculous upper.

Good luck and dont give up! Let us know how it goes

A quick reply where am at with the Shadow 2 upgrades.
Eemann Tech upgrade kit for the shadow 2
Eemann Tech slide stop with thumb rest.
CGW Hammer Kit with adjustable sear.
Eemann Ultimate Trigger for Shadow 2.
I really like the Ultimate Trigger and have decided to leave the gun DA/SA  Seeing I only shoot in SA mode anyway am well please how the pistol performs. The trigger pull isn't quite as light as the TSO's but for off hand shooting am well pleased with it.
The Pistol is a OR version and am using a Holosun 507 optic at the present time.
The performance is light years ahead of my stock pistol. The CGW hammer and sear was a great upgrade.
Thanks to all you guys with your suggestions with this upgrade.
