Title: AR stock on a Scorpion SBR
Post by: rangerdad56 on January 02, 2023, 10:28:21 PM
Have a Scorpion pistol on lay away that I am planing to convert to an SBR.  Would like to put an AR - type collapsing stock on it.  Any recommendations for an adapter for mounting an AR buffer tube?  Side folding is not needed.

If I KNEW I would SBR the gun, I'd get a 1913 adapter.

Then you can do this:  https://www.opticsplanet.com/sig-sauer-stock-adapter-1913-interface-folding-knuckle.html

Or you can use this:  https://www.primaryarms.com/midwest-industries-side-folder-with-mi-stock-tube

OR, you can use a host of other stocks that actually prove better for the Scorpion.

OK, if we assume I go with a 1913 adapter, what stock would you recommend?  Im not totally enamoured with side folders, but my mind is not closed to one.  Would like one with MLOC slots for sling attachment.

Maybe this:

https://www.sigsauer.com/sig-sauer-telescoping-folding-stock-mcx-mpx-blk.html

Has a quick detach for a sling mount, provides a cheek weld better than a bar, and has adjustable length, which is VERY handy.  If you get a 1913 adapter with plenty of pic rails you can even adjust height.

I just think that while the AR rear has one advantage, it adjusts pull, it is large and round, and doesn't allow folding.  You can stick this gun almost anywhere when folded.  That is a real plus.

If I KNEW I was going to SBR, I'd also likely go with the OEM CZ stock the gun was designed to use.

Just was watching a vid on this:

https://www.opticsplanet.com/reptilia-link-for-cz-scorpion-w-magpul-zhukov.html

I’ve run the Zhukov on an AK, and like it.  The only thing I did not like about the Zhukov stock was the pivot, which is just plastic. This device fixes that and actually makes the Zhukov stock really attractive for this weapon.  I might pic this over the OEM stock.

I think you CAN add a riser to the Zhukov also.  The thing you get with SOME stock options for the 1913 adapter is you can change the height.  Next year, you MAY decide you want a different optic option.

While this gun is small enough to still be compact with an AR tube, being able to fold it up and fit it into a medium size bag and tucking it away is a huge advantage.

Well, I very well may be sticking with iron sights.  With my eyes I can acquire a target much more quickly with irons than with any optic.  If anything I would use something like a Holosun 510C.  I just don't see much point to anything else with a 7-8 inch barrel.

I like the AR stock because of the adjustable length of pull,  and I am just not a big fan of the side folders, particularly the skeletonalized, light weight stocks.  Call me old school.  I have a Magpul side folder on my scorpion carbine and still find it a little flimsy.

So, you have a carbine with a Zhukov stock on it?  Did it come with a regular CZ OEM stock?  Would you please compare?  Thanks.  I'd like to know more about real stocks in case I am 'farced' to SBR.

It came with the Zhukov stock and Magpul pistol grip.    Never had the OEM stock.
