Title: CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar -- barrel floating skewed?
Post by: bluetentacle on October 31, 2005, 04:07:42 PM
I just got a CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar in 223.  It shoots very well (sub-MOA from the bench, and 1MOA from a bipod/unsupported rear-end), and the fit and finish is excellent indeed.

My only concern is with the floated barrel.  I can pass a strip of paper under it easily, but the clearance of the barrel from the stock on the left side is significantly smaller than the clearance from the right side.  The pictures below illustrate this apparent inconsistency clearly:

Perhaps the other 527 Kevlar owners out there can tell me if this is also the case with their rifles, and whether this is normal.  I do notice, that the HS Precision stock is generally asymmetric, with the right side thicker to accomodate the action and the ergonomic palm swell on the grip.

Other than that, I am very happy with my purchase.

My Remington 700 is also askew in the HS stock.  I think its just the aluminum block. If it is free-floated, its just cosmetic (cosmetic is important, but I think that deviation is within the normal range).

Try reseating the barreled action in the stock, mine was off some and when I reseated it that took care of the problem and did not affect accuracy.
