Title: Possibly of a 40 S&W Phantom.
Post by: timetofly on January 27, 2023, 04:55:54 PM
Over time I’ve collected a collection of slides,  one in particular is a SP-01 tactical 40 S&W.  Looking in the CZ discontinued pages, I saw that the SP-01tactical 40 S&W was a decocker.  This got me thinking about an older SP-01 Phantom frame I acquired some time back.  HHHHHHHHMMMMM?????  Is it possible to put the tactical upper on the phantom???  In a word, yes it seemed to fit, and function, without live ammo.  dDoes anyone know if this is a safe and workable combination, or is this question best left unanswered? And just put this off to the side and move on to the next project?

You could check with Stewart at CZ custom or David at CGW. If anyone can be certain I'd think one or both of them can answer the question.

I contacted a person that I consider knowledgeable on this subject, and they advised changing the recoil spring and frequently Inspecting for wear.  This won’t be a high use gun, just an oddity more or less.

I don't see why not.  As long as the slide clears the sear cage (and you would know it during test fitting).

I fitted a 40 SA slide on my Tactical and it didn't clear the sear cage properly.  I was able to fit it.  I also had to alter the timing of the slide cutout to ensure the triggerbar reset properly.  But a tactical 40S&W slide should be timed and such for a DA/SA trigger already.

I really wished I purchased a phantom when they were flooding the market and cheap.  That is one of those I'd buy if the right deal popped up.

Cheers,
Toby

At this point, all that is left is to bring it to the range and post my impression of a “40” phantom.  It’s been too cold in south east Kansas  lately, but hopefully a 60 degree or better weekend is on it’s way soon.
