Hello everyone - - I'm interested in getting a 550 FS rifle. (I haven't decided between 243 or 308 for this first one. I eventually plan to get both.) - - Can you please tell me how well your rifle shoots? I like full stocked type rifles, but this is my first one and I've heard horror stories about the accuracy of some brands. - - Any input you can provide before I place my order would be appreciated. Thank you, - - -

Buy something else.

That bad huh? I am surprised.

My FS shoots as well as any of my other rifles and better than most of them. I don't know what the horror stories are but I know several deer and one hog that can (could have) attest to the rifles accuracy.

I think the objection is just the cosmetics of the stock.
I am stripping the one I have, and refinishing it with a flat oil finish. Also, there are some after-market stocks out there. There is no reason the FS would not take a small synthetic stock for hunting. It would make a nice carbine.

forget the FS. i know, i know. shoots well looks like made in mexico. you will get no satisfaction from this as the wood is so wretched. what a POS. they should be ashamed.

My cousin in his 50s has been shooting and hunting since he was a little kid, and buys and sells guns like it was going out of style. His first CZ was a 550 FS in .308; he claims it is the most accurate .308 he ever shot.

I have a 550 FS in 6.5x55 that I have yet to shoot(waiting to put a scope on it). However, I have seen a CZ 550 FS in .270Win put 3 bullets into 0.70 inches at 100 yards. That's better than a lot of other rifles can shoot.
As far as the quality of wood goes, that's a hit or miss thing with CZ. I got lucky and have a real nice piece of wood on mine, but I also had a couple of rifles to choose from.
