Title: Fiocchi SP and SR primers in stock
Post by: lewmed on February 17, 2023, 01:20:30 PM
I just got an email from Powder Valley  Fiocchi sp and sr primers are in stock.  The packaging is a bit strange with 150 to a tray and they are soft primers much like Federal  easy to seat and very consistent ignition.

The Fiocchi sp were 2.5 cents per at the end of 2019.

Got a bunch and they work perfect.

Nice to see the supply MIGHT be loosening.  Wish the LGS would get some back.  I'm tired of paying Hazmat and Shipping fees.  I recently got semi-lucky on GunBroker for 5K CCI #500's for $425 but with CC, Hazmat etc, it ended up a little over $500.

For simple plinking, its getting cheaper to buy factory.  I've pretty much burned through all of my pre 2021 stocks of supplies.  8 lbs of powder that used to cost $178 is not $310 with shipping.

Thanks for sharing.

I know it kind of sucks having to pay more than $.08 each for SPP primers that were $024 each a few years ago but at least they are available and with no limits. I feel lucky to have stocked up on LPP's and LRP's I can't remember the last time I saw those for sale.

When you look at prices online don't forget to add the taxes and shipping and hazmat.  That will really run up the price quickly.

Normally yes, hazmat kills the deal with online sales.  Especially if you are limited to a maximum quantity (e.g. 2k primers or 2 containers of powder).

If you can order a large amount of primers/powder, then it gets washed out with the savings typically.  That hasn't happened as of late as nobody has a ton of anything or they have maximum quantities limits in place.

American Reloading includes the price of hazmat and shipping, what you see is what you pay for the item.  They have had fairly decent stock of primers lately, hopefully their prices start to drop.

Cheers,
Toby

My local sportsmans warehouse received a ton of Fiocchi small pistol primers (50000 or so?).  At first they were still limiting you to two sleeves (300) of primers per day.  Then they upped it to 5 sleeves (750) and the last two times I went in they sold me a brick (1500) of primers per day.  They are $90 out the door for a brick ($0.06/primer).  Not great but on par with online prices.

My last loading session I loaded up 600 9mm with the Fiocchi and will give them a go.  My initial testing showed that they might be more variable than Winchester but in the same velocity range with my 9mm load.  Seems plenty good enough for USPSA loads.

Cheers,
Toby

Any time I find Fiocchi at a good price I buy it. I shoot Fiocchi 10mm exclusively out of my G20.
