Hello, I'm going to buy CZ 550 Varmint Laminated in .308 and I'd like to ask you if you have some experiences with this rifle. Mostly I'd like to know something about accuracy, what group size did you shot. I want to shoot smaller groups than with friends Mosin Nagant sniper rifle (vz.54)(about 1 MOA). Mostly I do target shooting up to 300m.
Thanx
Sorry, my english is poor, but I hope you understand

While not specifically about the varmint model, this past post may interest you. My 550 in .308 (non - varminter) model is sub moa.

Here's a 5 shot group off the bench at a little over 100 yards. My front rest consisted of a V notch cut in a 2x6 and the rear rest was my left hand. Rounds were handloads, lapua brass, lapua 167gr HPBT scenar's, over 44gr of IMR 4064 and and CCI BR 2 primers. It seems to like Varget even better. In anycase I ain't complaining!

Thanks for your reply Travis, it seems that varmint model can be even better.
I've found yesterday that one guy is selling his CZ 550 Sniper, so maybe I'll buy it. I think that Sniper model could be better than Varmint.

Glad I ran across this post! I was curious as to how the 308 would shoot compared to the synthetic 223 with alum bedding block. Now all I have to do is see how the 223 is known to shoot.
Also, could someone shed some light on the 550 Sniper? I am un-aware of this version, but I'm assuming its not the M1 model?

five shot group averaged 1.89" from 300 yards with Hornady 40 gr V-max! 100 yard group avg with same round was .59". Don't know of any 550 sniper model .. the 700 is no longer in production though there is talk of a future model to replace it.

CZ 550 Sniper is modificated 550 for sniper usage. Made for Czechoslovak army, but I think that we don't use them (we use SVD Dragunov). I think that this is a good rifle, because many people use them in snipers competitions here in slovakia (and czech of course) with good results.

I see that the CZ 750 Sniper is now listed on the www.czub.com website...
