Title: CZ 'Sniper' Rifle
Post by: bullsi1911 on September 26, 2003, 09:57:50 AM
About a year or so ago, CZ listed a 'Sniper' type rifle on the website.  what model was it, and what happened to it?

You're refering to the CZ-700 Sniper which is now out of production(200 or so CZ-700 were made, but 1 CZ-700 Sniper was made), rumours are they were too expensive to produce but a new CZ-550 based mechanism with a new stock design is on the drawing table:D

If there was just one 700 Sniper brought into the states, I held it and almost bought it.  It was a nice rifle and was the only one with the screw on flash hider.  Two things prevented me from buying it:  lack of spare rifle magazines and a contact at customer service at CZUSA who stated that the Remy 700 or Savage could easily match or outshoot it.  Besides, at that point, it is a collector's items and shouldn't be shot.

I passed on it.  And regretted it ever since.  It was hefty and a real beauty.

Phil Thompson at the CZ Connection in Norcross Georgia 1-888-207-2220 just got back from the CZ factory in The Czech Republic and had his hands on a new CZ Sniper rifle that will eventually be available in the USA. He says it was one sweet shooting rifle.

I just found a pair of CZ 700 M1 rifles on Guns america.  Guy wants about $1900.00 each.  Just thought I'd let you all know.

There is only 1 700 Sniper, but several 700Sniper M1s in the United States. (I posted the actual number somewhere on this board earlier this year.) The Sniper M1 has the laminate stock. The Sniper has the synthetic stock with a low foreend to accomodate the integrally suppressed barrel option.
