Title: CZ Rami slide stop pin installed wrong
Post by: bonj on March 26, 2023, 05:00:21 PM
I was re-assembling my Rami after cleaning and was having a difficult time with re-installing the slide stop pin and I think I pulled the slide back to far when inserting the pin, now my slide will not come to battery and now I can't remove the pin, in order to start all over?

Just use a little persuasion with a brass or plastic punch.  It will come out.

I don't pull the slide back until I've started the slide stop in the hole.  Once inserted I pull it back aligning the marks and finish installing the slide stop.

Cheers,
Toby

Thanks Tdogg, My gunsmith fixed it for me. I was not comfortable with taking a hammer and a punch to it, not knowing where the lever was, in relation to the barrel. My Rami does not have any alingnment marks?

When all else fails read the owners manual. See page 8

There are no such detailed instructions in the CZ OEM owners manual for any slide stop lever removal or re-installation procedures as described by tdogg. thanks?

There ARE detailed instructions in the manual and IF you read it it details how to remove the slide stop and YES there are no alignment marks on the RAMI.

Yes essentially the slide has to be retracted enough to unlock the barrel and release the tension of the slide stop.  This makes it easier to remove.

Reassembly is the opposite.  Inserting the slide stop first ensures the barrel is close to lockup, then the barrel peanut will be in position when you release slide tension (by pulling slide back or lining up the marks) to insert slide stop completely.

Cheers,
Toby

"#6. Push the slide slightly back until the rear part of the slide is placed against retracted hammer. "

Does this mean to say that one is to pull the slide back until it retracts the trigger, or that the trigger should be retracted prior to sliding the slide back?

I had to look, but on two RAMIs I have there are no alignment marks, you bring the hammer to the half cock position then you can remove the slidestop.

So I should bring the hammer to the half cock position first and then move the slide back until it reaches the hammer and then push on the pin?

I do my P07/P09/C75/P01 Omega, all of them that same way.

Empty it, remove the magazine, move the hammer to halfcock, grab in with my left hand with my thumb over the backstrap and fingers over the top of the slide and squeeze and the slide moves to the rear and contacts the half cocked hammer and use a magazine corner to push the slide stop towards the left side of the frame.

Once it moves over, switch hands to the right, squeeze in the same manner and use my left thumb and trigger finger to grab/pull/wiggle the slide stop out.  Works great.

I never even look at the witness marks because when the hammer is at half cock and the slide is rear enough to contact the hammer, the marks are lined up close enough for the slide stop to loosen/revmove or reinstall.

Yeah, use the right hand grip to squeeze/hold the slide rearward against the hammer at half cock and the left hand to reinserted the slide stop.  Once it's as far in as I can push it with my thumb the plastic/rubber base on my magazine will push it the rest of the way.  I really don't have any magazines with metal bases anymore.  They've been converted to the bases that don't scratch stuff when my big wide rear end walks past with the pistol hanging off the right side.

I can't believe this thread has 15 posts about so basic a maneuver. 10 of them simply repeating the same advice. 3 should have been plenty.

Maybe CZ should update their ambiguously worded Manual [#6]

Considering that CZ discontinued the Rami in 2020, I doubt that’s going to happen.

The instructions in the manual seem pretty clear and straightforward  to me and the majority of other owners. The method described may take a little coordination and hand strength, but it’s relatively easy to accomplish.

These #6 instructions are not straightforward or clear.
"#6. Push the slide slightly back until the rear part of the slide is placed against retracted hammer. "
One could interpret these instructions many different ways.
Like, "place the slide against the retracted hammer" in a Half cocked OR Full cocked Retracted hammer position, using the slide, OR  "place the slide against the retracted hammer" at a Half cocked OR or Full cocked position PRIOR to pushing the slide
