Title: 10 MM CZ
Post by: Welldone on April 10, 2023, 06:32:26 AM
Besides the Dan Wesson guns, does CZ offer a 10 MM pistol? If not, does anyone offer a conversion barrel setup?

Looks like CZ custom will build you one for the right price.

Looks like that article is a few years old. I may be wrong,  it I don’t think CZC does the 10mm conversion anymore.

A CZ in 10mm? Shades of Jeff Cooper's Bren Ten . . . ?

Tanfoglio used to offer it. Might be as close as you'll get.

The Bren Ten was offered by Dixie/Dixon something or another, right? I know it was a Cooper inspired project to whatever extent from the writings back then. If I recall correctly the first shortened version of the ten was due to FBI recruits having trouble with the actual 10mm (?) I cant remember. In any case, it seems that the 10 makes for BIG guns.....not that that is always bad O0

The FBI made the switch to 10mm after the infamous 1986 Miami shootout. Smith & Wesson made the guns the FBI adopted which were the models 1006 and 1076. The 10mm being a hefty recoiling round made it hard to master for small handed men and women and shortly thereafter the .40S&W was born.

I ordered a Colt Delta 10mm when they were first announced and waited 10 months for delivery. Ammunition was either expensive or not available. When it could be found I found out it threw brass like my H&K91. It's still in the safe with 3 magazines fired through it. Yup, a little more recoil than the 45. I bought the Ruger 10mm/38-40 convertible to play with. Brass recovery is much easier. A 5" or 6" S&W 610 would make a nice happy me present someday.
A CZ TS2 in 10mm would be interesting.

EAA used to make a Witness in 10mm. There must still be a few out there. CZ clone, so it would be close to a 75.

Dornaus and Dixon, the world famous Bren Ten...I knew a guy who had one and really regrets selling it. Magazines are insanely expensive, too, due to the manufacturer of the mags not following through, so many guns were shipped sans mag. They have been out of print for decades.

EAA was the former importer for Tanfoglio, the manufacturer of the Witness and several other high-quality CZ75 clones chambered in 10mm for self defense and competition. Now Tanfoglio (along with FK Brno) is imported and distributed in the US by the Italian Firearms Group.

Would love to see those chambered in 7.5 FK Brno as well as 10mm!

That's the history that I have read. The manufacture of the Bren Ten was an ambitious venture bedeviled by bad luck. Imagine shipping a gun without magazines . . . you are shipping a world famous paperweight.

I shot my full size Witness steel frame 10mm this weekend.  It has a Henning guide rod and the heaviest recoil spring that I could find.  I can hardly rack the slide.  It still tosses spent cases about ten yards.

The DW 10mm Pointman is outstanding in every respect.

Currently Vltor holds the rights to the Bren Ten and was going to reintroduce it until one of their designers split for BCM with KeyMod.  The unconfirmed scuttlebutt I have heard from industry folks is that Vltor's holding onto it out of spite.  The originals are extremely expensive and magazines hard to find.

you are late to the party.

CZ Custom did make some conversions but i havent seen them FS now.

As mentioned, EAA/Witness has a CZ clone in 10.

If you aren't stuck on the CZ style, look at the S&W or SA.  Glock makes a couple 10s too.

good luck.

I bought a little used RIA 1911 ultra 10mm earlier this month off Gone Broker. The fit and finish appears as nice as the 1911 in 45acp that I've had for years. Reasonably priced and an added bonus of 8 rounds of 10mm. A full magazine and one in the chamber, cocked and locked. The receiving dealer unboxed and checked the serial number and laid it on the counter. I picked it up and it wouldn't cycle to check the chamber and found it cocked and locked. Further check found fully loaded magazine and one in the chamber. This brought up the need to always personly make sure the condition of the weapon when you pick it up.
I'll admit checking the condition was not my first thought when I picked it up off the counter,  I wanted to try out the trigger and check the  slide to frame fit. Wake up call,  it spit one out when cycled not what I expected. Gave new meaning to its always loaded even when it shouldn't be.
I haven't gotten around to shooting it yet but the trigger is Reasonable and slide and barrel are tight. I've got 400 rounds loaded left over from the Delta 30 years ago. Other than the heat excuses are limited.

I've been thinking about getting one of those RIA 10mm's.  Let us know how it shoots.

Your dealer and the sender obviously need to get their acts together.  I hope you gave the seller an F rating and a full description of what happened.  I learned a long time ago that some people just shouldn't be around guns.  About 25 years ago I had a coworker who wanted to see a Walther PP that I have.  I brought it to work and had it in the trunk of my car.  We went out to the car and I popped the trunk.  He reached right in, grabbed the pistol and pulled the trigger.  He did this all in such a quick motion that I didn't even have a chance to say anything.  Fortunately, I was smart enough to not have it loaded, but it was certainly a lesson in assuming competence.  Ever since, I don't.
