Looks like there are three types of 8mm Mauser ammo. 1 in Rimless .323 dia (JS), 2 in Rimmed (.318 (JR) and .323 diameter (JRS).
Yes, figured this out AFTER getting the wrong ammo.
So, What type of gun uses the JRS ammo?
Thanks!

The original 8mm Mauser was a rimless cased .318 diameter round it was replaced by the "S" same case but a .323 diameter bullet. I believe (don't actually know) the that the "R" in the JR means a rimmed round.

Yes the rimmed version is intended for double rifles and drillings.

Just wanted to mention that the ''J'' in 8x57 JS / 7.92x57JS is actually a cursive ''I''. ''IS'' is correct and means ''Infanterie Spitz''. (Infantry Spitzer) Many manufacturers got that wrong after the war and used the J instead of the I and it stuck.
Some early Mauser Gewehr 98 are still floating around using the ''I'' only chambering, which means you have to use the slimmer bullet (.318). Same goes for the Gewehr 88's. Those chambered in the ''IS'' version have the bigger .323 bore.
