Title: CZ-83 Markings....?
Post by: USAF Ret on April 24, 2023, 11:44:57 PM
Laid up with my Sciatica kicking my backside, so I can barely move, and getting sporadic sleep so my mind is wandering all over place as I look for the next gun to add to my herd. Well when looking at other CZs the following thoughts and questions arose in my medicated brain.

We bought our two 1991 CZ-83s in 1992 while stationed at Rhein Main AB Germany. The left side of the slide on them are marked Mod. 83 Cal. 9 Browning Made In Czechoslovakia.. Obviously since we bought them in Europe they lack an import mark of any kind.

I know in the military surplus collecting world lack of an import mark makes a firearm worth more.

So would non import mark CZ-83s command a higher price than import marked ones?
Would there be a difference in price for ones marked Czechoslovakia versus Czech Republic?

Perhaps a slight premium, but at the moment I don't believe it makes much difference as to whether it has an import mark or not. A much bigger value add (and this goes for nearly all guns) is having the original box and materials.

Packed away I have the original box w/ brush, engineering Inspection slip from CZ, the test target from CZ (All written in Czech).

Plus I have the original purchase receipt, AE Form 190-6A (Firearms Retention Authorization), AE Form 190-6C-R (Notification Of Firearm(s) Purchase), and the ATF From 6 (Application And Permit For Importation Of Fireams, Ammunition And Implements Of War).
