Title: CZ 75 B question
Post by: chemcal on April 25, 2023, 08:20:35 PM
How do I find a 75 b without hammer cam?

You don't and you won't. You buy a 75B and add the Cajun Gun Works hammer and adjustable sear and then you have a crisp single action trigger pull. You asked a similar question like 4 years ago about PCR's and nothing is any different today.

Thank you for your replies. I forgot about my question four years ago. I keep looking for the "right" gun(OCD). Is a gunsmith needed to install these?

That is totally dependent upon your mechanical ability and confidence. If you're willing to learn CZ's especially the B model non decockers really are not too bad. There are plenty of tutorials on the forum as well as YT vids available and CGW themselves have postings/tutorials on their website. CGW is also very good about answering questions and walking a person through any issues they might have.

Having fitted one safety on a CZ75 Compact after changing out hammers I can only advise buying a CGW adjustable sear to go along with a new hammer.  Makes getting the adjustment right for the safeties to work so much quicker and easier than working on that cam on the safety shaft that blocks the sear movement when the safety is in the SAFE position.  BTDT once.  The last couple I've bought the CGW adjustable sear and will never fit a safety to the sear after a hammer change again.

I have macro mechanical ability, however, with gun actions, I'd rather not. Are these ever sold by anyone who has already changed out the action?

Yes they are, but they usually sell at a discount because most buyers want factory original. You will see a few on Gunbroker from time to time.  On a different note, Mcarbo sells a well proven $30 spring kit for the 75 that will greatly reduce the trigger pull and reduce that hammer camming feel but not eliminate it.  They also have an excellent install video for the mechanically challenged.

While you may be able to feel "smooth" vs. rough/draggy you really need a trigger pull gauge to determine what your trigger pull weight/effort is vs. what it is after your improvements (parts or polishing).

I have a couple CZs that only got new hammers (not match/competition hammers, just the reproduction spur hammers CZ puts on a sort of commemorative model CZ75 they make.  My finger told me the trigger pull was scary low with the new hammer vs. the original ring hammer.  The trigger pull ga. told me it was 3 lbs.  Exactly 3 lbs.  No way, checked it again, 3 lbs.  My finger and brain are telling me the ga. is wrong and I checked it two more times and it was 3 lbs. both times.  It was so crisp it just felt lighter than it really was.  My second use of the same type of trigger also gave me exactly the same trigger pull weight and feel.

You really need to have a trigger pull ga. if you want to know how much your work and parts improve a trigger pull.

Please put the link to the reproduction spur hammer you are talking about.
Thank you.
