Title: Imgur question
Post by: Gunnerdad80 on April 29, 2023, 07:09:58 PM
HOW IN FATHER GOD, BABY JESUS, LORD ALMIGHTY'S NAME DO YOU RESIZE AN IMAGE ON IMGUR NOW?! I haven't been on Imgur in probably a year and they've changed the way you do it and I'm lost. Can someone at least point me in the right direction?

It's a pain ATM. I resize my photos first in MS Paint, then upload them. It's way easier.

You don't need to do any of that. Read all of the Image Posting Guide posted in the Important Information forum.

When you select one of the image sizes from the bottom of the IMGUR image manipulations menu, the image is pre-sized for you.

OR, you can size your image when you post here with an HTML "width" command.

Both ways are fully explained and clear examples are given in the Guide. It's simple and easy. It takes more work to fall off a bar stool.

Wobbly,
I never had issues adjusting image size on Imgur. It’s always been super easy to use. I typically adjusted to 550 pixels and it worked great. It’s been a while since I last used Imgur and they changed the layout as far as editing photo size and I haven’t been able to figure it out. I have a MAC desktop and I’m trying to figure out how to size images before uploading them to Imgur but not having much luck there either. I did read the updated image posting thread but I’m still having trouble with it. But thanks anyway for the help. I’ll eventually figure it out.

If we're talking about the same thing I use the choice of (I think) four sizes that are down below/right of the picture you want to post.  I pick the size, then click copy, then come to the forum and click paste.

Just looked at it.  Six sizes to pick from.  Range is small square to huge thumbnail  with four sizes in between.  Click on the picture you want to post and the picture shows up in a box with the choice of sizes in the bottom /right and the choice of what type of file to use (depending on where/what type of place you're wanting to post it to).

It's not required. You are free to use any photo host you like.

Why is a photo host even required? Why not just upload a pic? It appears that other posters have pics loaded here, without the need for for the viewer to click on a link. Or maybe they have some kind of premium photo host?

I have never been able to imbed a pic but that may be because I am always on my tablet and too lazy to grab my computer so I just post the link.

Imgur was really simple to use, but they changed it and now I can’t figure it out. I’m just gonna have to find another avenue.

1. From the How To Post Pictures thread in the New Members forum (required reading for all members)...
Quote
How to host Photos and Images on the CZ Forum   (Revised Oct 2022)

• We apologize, but this independent website is run on a shoestring budget. Directly hosting photos, as done on other sites, is not within our means. Other sites can do this because they are selling ad space and/or selling your private information. We do not do that. We sincerely hope you appreciate that fact enough to overlook this small inconvenience.

In other words, all it takes is MONEY, and if this a serious concern of yours, then feel free to make a monetary donation to CZF... Or, stop complaining.

2. From the Image Posting Guide, which is the Go-To document for such questions....
Quote
Image Posting Instructions

• The best image manipulation and posting results are always obtained by using a home computer. Do not expect good results doing this job on a tablet or phone.

As a new Admin, I am continually struck by how many posts we have to remove and correct on a daily basis because members refuse to read the instructions. Then it's up to me to write an email and explain why their post is missing or why their language has landed them in the "time out chair".

And then 9 out of 10 times, members blame me for being on a "power trip" because they failed to read and follow the rules !!

I guess the next logical step is a Defund the Admins movement.  ;D

I like Postimages for forums.  https://postimages.org/  It has a simple dropdown menu for re-sizing.

I'm on plenty of different forums and none of them have administrators on power trips like the ones here. This isnt the first time I've said this, so I know I'll be gone soon. Oh well, guess I wont let the door hit me in the ass-lol. This isnt the only game in town.

I'm patiently waiting on YOU to volunteer for my job, which I will gladly give up.

Then YOU can come here 3 times a day, every day, and scan every post looking for abusive language, hateful postings, pornography, scams, users not following the very basic rules, and other "power trips".

Then YOU can show us how it's properly done.

Not sure how many years I've been a member here.

So far, I don't think I've had an issue with a mod/admin guy/gal.

Then again, I don't go out of my way to start trouble either.

Lots of discussion on some forums about all the people that have been banned and whether or not it was justified.  Threads on banned members on arfcom and M14 Forum.

I guess, like they say, if you're looking for it, sooner or later you'll find it - or it'll find you.

Power trip? The question is answered right in this thread, on the previous page. If people cannot be bothered to read the posts, why should I (or any other member) be bothered enough to repost the same answer to save someone the trouble of reading the thread before posting?.

Give me a break.

Stupid people is just the way it it now. No one reads anything anymore. Ever try selling something on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist? When I list something, I have an accurate description of what I'm selling. Sometimes a paragraph worth. Usually mt first sentence is "If its listed its available" And of course I get a dozen people asking if its available. I thing since most folks just use their phone they just read the title.

I digress. So just delete me now-lol

I read it.  I think he's saying if you want to leave, just leave.  It's not worth the time/effort to kick you out so you can go to another forum and complain you were kicked off this one.  Bummer, I know.  But there it is.
