A new rifle made out of STAINLESS-STEEL: rollin (receiver and all) is due to come out any time. It will have a similar safety as Win.(3 position) , based on the famous Mauser system it will have a claw extractor. Base system will not be within the receiver(as the classic CZ rifles were), this will allow easier mounting of long range base system which are'nt exactly parallel but with a slight slant such as Remington's 700 Custom bases, allowing long shots, exact contours will be disclosed later on. Calibers availability is for the Short Magnums: .270, 7 mm., .300.

Excellent.  That should take care of the two things that I didn't particularly care for on the CZ's: the backwards (to me) safety, and the receiver scope bases.  I'm tall, and have to mount the scope far forward, and the receiver dovetails make for some headaches there.  I'd preferred a Remington style safety, but a 3-position will work!

I think that CZ is taking the American market very seriously. Case in point the new Safari 550 with a stock design more in tune with what WE want.

 Look at the changes they have made in just a few short years. I expect a LOT of very interesting offerings from CZ in the upcoming years. Both calibers and rifle styles.

 They seem to be able to adapt VERY quickly. BRAVO CZ!! Keep up the good work.

The new Guns & Ammo has a short but decent article on the new CZ Safari grade with the American style stock. Available in .375 H&H, .416 rigby and .458 Lott.

 From the photos it looks pretty good. One hell of a cheap way to get into a REAL magnum length action. Plus with a little work here and there you take care of any factory fit and finish shortcomings and end up with a great rifle.

 A .416 Rigby is on my mind to replace my early model that I moved down the road.

My perception on Short mags. are very comparable to P.P.C. cartridges. It takes a longer amount of time for internal ballistics(cross-linking combustion) to do its job in a long magnum as compared to a larger cartridge such a short magnum (quicker, homogeneous, if bad powder is chosen HOTTER). This principle would also be very interesting in a .223 short magnum thus possibly fitting in a .223 Rem. lenght actionned rifle but with the velocity of a usual stronger rifle, the ticklish point is choosing the proper powder as to not gain to many p.s.i./time=pressure curve as to wreck a smaller action.

CZ-USA has a new catalog in their web-site, have a look at the #3, this promises to be a fine rifle, too bad it is'nt in heavy barrel attire.
