Title: CZ-52
Post by: USAF Ret on June 06, 2023, 10:09:30 PM
Picked this up at a gunshow about 10 years ago for $250.00 out the door with the holster, cleaning rod, 2 magazines, lanyard, 100 rounds of ammo, and a manual.

The holster is marked "Crossed Swords 53 along with gun Gun, so both made in 1953, with a VOZ 83 for a 1983 refurb date. The SN's match, and it has the typical markings all the way around.

First picture my 1953 CZ-52 with its younger siblings a 1989 CZ-82 and one of two 1991 CZ-83s (I brought back from Germany in 1992). Second picture the 2nd CZ-83 which my FIL held onto.

Nice photos!

I hope your sciatica is doing better these days.  Several weeks ago I had a fall and fractured my L1.  It's a pain, literally, waiting for my appointment with the neurosurgeon in a few weeks.

While you were stationed in Europe, did you get a chance to visit the CZ factory in Uhersky Brod?

Unfortunately no....The wall came down in 89 and everything else followed in 91, and I rotated back to the US in 92.

Sciatica is under control, but I've since added Gerd to my list of ailments....Aging sucks!

OT: When my brother was stationed in Hungary years later, he talked about un-neutered AKs being sold off base, it made him cry that he couldn't buy one and bring it back.

It's fascinating to see your collection of CZ pistols spanning different years.

The 1989 CZ-82 and the 1991 CZ-83s from Germany must hold special sentimental value for you. And the CZ-52 itself is a unique piece of history.

Thanks for sharing your collection.

Thank you for the kind words.

The CZ-83s I loved and I still have all the import paperwork, and military registration paperwork for them. Didn't know what the CZ-83 was, CINC Household picked it up for me for our anniversary in 1992. After shooting it, I liked it a lot, and picked up a second one. Got back to the US and my FIL shot one and like it so much he kept it. Then when I taught CINC Household to shoot, I ended up losing the other one. Her first time shooting ever, with 12 rounds in the magazine and one in the pipe, she put all 13 rounds in the black of the bullseye at 25 feet. She fell in love with it, and claimed it as hers.

Always wanted to get another one and when I found the CZ-82, I was happy and CINC Household won't be shooting this one.

Going to gunshow this weekend and hoping to find some older CZs to add to the stable. Not that I really need another gun, got a ton of guns already. But if I find some older CZ pistols, it'll be great as they take up less room than rifles do. But if I find a rifle I like, it'll come home with me.

Impressive amount of long guns, especially the number with bayonets.

I couldn't really tell from your photos which is your vz24 and if it had a bayonet.

In making my vz 24 complete, I was able to find the exact bayonet fit with the appropriate marking.

All my rifles currently have bayonets, BUT one of the Mosin Nagant M91 bayonets the lockring broke so I'm looking to replace it. So far I'm short a cleaning rod for a Swiss Vetterli, a few slings, the firing pin and extractor for the Rolling Block and I think that's it.

Here's the Sao Paulo Uprising VZ-24-JC with its bayonet
