Title: Length of Ammo (own reloaded)
Post by: Unregistered(d) on March 04, 2004, 10:24:02 AM
Hello CZ shooters,

I have made some things to measure the lenght of mine chamber so I can make the best Ammo for Shooting.

With these things I can exactly say what the total lengh is. From this I make the shell .005 inch less Ready

What happen.

I could measure mine 223 very good but the 7 x 64  ( = about 30.06) gave trouble)

As you can see the shell is to short.

After that I repeated it only with a bullit on a bar.  With a cane I could measure the exact length.

But are there some where on the internet informations about the length form ammo in CZ rifles ?

Thanks

Doublet

These can be made by using a product which is available thru Brownell, cooling down of poured alloy will retract and have to be considered as to make final bullet choice. No rifle mfgr. gives specifics as to lenght of ammo. As for reloads, this is why bolt actions have an advantage: the ammo can be fire-formed without trimming lenght of case.

Doublet, looks like what you've made yourself is pretty much a copy of Stoney Point's Chamber All guide.  See stoneypoint.com   I use one to seat my bullets out accordingly from .010 to 040 off the lands.  As far as brass. a once fired pice should give you a good idea of the overall chamber sizing accounting for about .002 or so spring back in size (reduction).  Sinclair International (www. sinclairintl.com) also sells a chamber length guide much can be used to determine the neck length or overall chamber length.  I found this exceeded the SAAMI spec max on my .308 but turns out it has little overall effect on accurancy as  far as I can determine to date.   I've sized 30-06 brass down to .308 win for the greater neck length but as of yet it hasn't made any benefit in group size.  This was a pain in the butt, fair amount of time to size down, anneal, do some neck turing to remove excess brass, etc.
