Title: Quick release or seethru rings for 550
Post by: cyotz on March 15, 2004, 09:48:26 AM
Okay, I seem to have hit a brick wall finding either quick release or seethru rings for my 550. I did a search on this forum and can't find where anyone else has said they found some.

Is there anyone out there who has found quick release or seethru rings for a 550? My CZ rings fit my new Leupold scope just fine but I can't access my iron sights easily. It would be nice to have a choice of either sighting system in the field.

Thanks,
Chris Yotz

Talley makes a very well done detachable ring system. They DO show a model for the CZ's. WARNE may also do a mount.

Leupold does a std mount, just ordered a pair.

See Throughs tend to be cheap, and way too high. Not my choice at all.

I was concerned about seethru's being too high. Thanks for the info. I think quick detach will be my first choice if I can find some.

Called Warne and they said model number 1BLM are the medium height matte finish quick detach rings for a 550 with 19mm dovetail.

Will repost when received and tried. I ordered them from Cabela's for $65.00

For those interested I'll be receiving see-thru mounts for the CZ-550(ideal for Lux model) and see-thru for the CZ-452(ideal for iron sighted rifles). All these mounts are CZ-UB.

Distributor promised me they should be with me soon(I originaly talked about these mounts 3-4 months ago, luckely I have low blood pressure or CZ waiting time would have killed me:hat

Coyotz,

Warnes are a good choice too. I have a set of theirs on a Kimber M82  and an old pre 64 M70, nice stuff.
The detachables like the Talleys really are neat. I have a set on a .375 H&H M70 with a 1.5-5X Leupold in one set and a 2.5-8X Leupold in the other. I mount whatever scope is best suited for my needs and keep the other as a "spare". Both are sighted in for the gun so I can switch between the two and still be sighted in for any practical range I'd shoot at. Plus if I choose to use the iron's I just twist the levers and detach the scope.

I bought my CZ as I liked how the irons ARE truly useable. So a set of Talleys are probably in it's future.

Fred,

I called CZ USA and "Mike" told me that they don't have and don't plan to have any see thru's or detachable rings. Can we order stuff directly from CZUB?

Frank in Montana,

Do the detachable rings REALLY return to zero or do they just get close? I was debating whether it was worth trying these but decided that if it was really just hype and they didn't accually return to zero I could always put my CZ rings back on and sell the Warne rings.

Hi Chris,

The Talley & the Warnes rings return to zero pretty well, as for ordering direct from CZ-UB(lost cause), quantities which were talking about does'nt even tickle them, I've placed an order thru my distr.(in Canada) for quite a while, since he's ordering a whole bunch of other stuff, it makes it worthwhile for CZ-UB. I'll keep you posted as for availability & pricing as soon as I get the rings:\

All the best,
John

Thanks for offering these on the forum. I will email you if these quick release mounts don't work out to see if any are left.

Coyotz,

The Talley/Warne setup on the CZ's are a bit different  than the M70 . You mount the rings on the M70's on  a set of VERY precision machined bases. Once everything is secure the scope WILL return to zero. I use 50 and 100 yds groups as my basis for comparison.

Now the CZ system will I BELIEVE just use the integral bases. So IF the bases are both machined properly and the rings mate up well they SHOULD return to zero quite well. For "normal" hunting ranges you should return close enough to ZERO to be fine. Then again they may work as well as they do when mounted on the Talley bases too.
