Forgive my ignorance, but I am new to the CZ world.
I bought a new CZ75 Compact 15 rounder with safety in August.
Am thinking about buying this one - the 10 round version - soon.
Will the 10 rounder take the 15 round magazines like the one I already have?

Mags are the only difference.

True.
CZ provides the 10 round version to be compliant and thus available, in states that limit capacity to 10 rounds. Both the 14+1 AND 10+1 version will work with either magazine, as well as with full-size mags.

If you live in a free state, why would you buy 10rd mags?

Your statement is not exactly clear (to me) as to whether you are buying a second gun or a second mag.
• The gun will be exactly the same, and so I see very little to gain by duplicating the gun. Instead, try one of the other popular models.... an SP-01 or P10c.
• If you want (and the larger mags are legal to ship to your state), then all you need to buy is the 14-round mag. They will also fit and operate in your present gun.
• You may also buy 10-round mags for this gun, which can be useful for competition purposes.
• There are several brands of mags available. CZ only uses/supplies Mec-Gar (brand) and they work the best. I would warn you away from other inferior brands.
• If you want a really large mag, then there is a chance that the 18-round mags from one or more models will also operate in your present gun. Others can clarify.
Hope this helps.

The 18/19 round mags for my SP-01 Tacticals work fine in P-01s and PCRs, if you ignore the gap between the grip frame and magazine floorplate.
