I just recently took delivery on a new 75BD last week. I had run about four mags through
it when I noticed that when engaging the decocker, the hammer only travels a minute distance and then stops.
I then noticed that on the right side of the receiver, the decocking pin had protruded out, ever so slightly.
I then placed a fingernail against the pin and pushed very lightly which at that point, the hammer decocked fully.
Is this due to new gun tightness, which will eventually work itself out or do I have a defective decocking pin ?
Thanks

You should immediately stop using the gun and contact CZ-USA for warranty service. The decocking lever will protrude frame the frame slightly and some side to side movement is normal but none of this should affect the way the gun decocks. You should be sure that you are using a firm downward pressure on the lever when decocking but if the gun is not dropping the hammer to half cock then you have a warranty issue.

A video or picture of the issue would be helpful. If nothing but to help us understand what the sequence is for the failure to occur.
There should not by anything protruding out of the right side of the frame on a 75BD unless you have an ambidextrous lever set installed.
I'm not sure how the lever would protrude out the right side without the actual lever hitting the left side first?
There is some resistance to decocking actuation and it should provide some feedback when lowering the hammer to half cock. Are you saying that when you pushed with your fingernail on the pin in the right side of the gun, it decocked the gun automatically? If so, then yes I'd reach out to CZ and get a warranty return started.

Correct, Toby.
I can force the decocker tab down and it causes only a minimal amount of travel forward in the hammer. I can then go over to the right side of the frame and push in the pin with my thumbnail and it goes forward to the full decock position. There is minimal protusion of the pin on the right side of the frame, after the decock tab is pressed, perhaps a 32nd of an inch.
Thanks

The decocker lever shaft does protrude out the right side of the frame a bit and it is normal. My 3 PCR's and full size 75BD all exhibit this. I do agree it would be nice to see a vid of the OP's issue.

I'd say there is an absolute defect there. I cannot duplicate that on any of my 4 decocker CZ's no matter how lightly I depress the lever they always fall to the half cock position as they should. I would call CZ USA and take advantage of your warranty.

Thanks, SVPP.
I just hate to send in firearms, but sometimes there is no way around it.

Yeah that's not right. If you push the lever down to decock and then lift the lever up does it decock fully? Is there something that is causing the decocker lever to bind up?
Regardless, that should go to cz for warranty.

Toby

I get it and I hate having to send anything in just like anyone does but when there's an obvious problem the warranty dept. should be made to remedy the situation and they also need to take note of what actually is wrong for future reference and QC.

Totally agree.
Luckily, since it will be going back to the maker's US rep, you can send it yourself. No FFL is required, is my understanding.

Update :
Yesterday, Saturday the 16th, I decided to call CZ on Monday to get a return authorization. But, I loaded the 75BD in the old range bag and ran 64 rounds through her. The decocker works perfectly. So, I'll run another couple hundred through the gun and see if that loosens it up any more.
Will keep you guys up to date. Thanks !

A bit interesting that such a bizarre issue went away. Seems like either there was a piece of debris in the lock work that came free or a burr on the sear or decocker lever that worked itself out. Maybe post a vid of how the decocker is behaving now?

Yeah it looks to be performing as it should now. I do stand by the idea that there may have been debris or a burr but I still think you should contact CZ-USA and let them know what was/is going on and maybe send them both vids just to get their opinion.

It looks normal now. I wonder what was causing it to bind up? It might warrant a detail strip and clean to see if anything is still in the action/sear cage. At minimum pull it apart and douse it with gun scrubber (remove grips) then lubricate appropriately.
I use rem oil aerosol spray and wipe off extra with a clean soft rag to get the finish to return to a natural shiny luster. I lubricant the slides with a small amount of CGW grease and a little oil. I oil the pins that rotate (sear cage, trigger pin, and hammer pin) and the main hammer spring with a needle oiler. I use a small amount of grease on the barrel, barrel locking lugs, and barrel peanut slot. I run it fairly wet.
