Hi all,
I’m strongly considering buying a used P-01 Omega for $500.
What do you recommend I look for when inspecting it after field
-stripping? How about when test firing?
Thank you in advance!

Just look for unusual wear and damage. I've yet to see one wear out.

Family Firearms has them for $528 plus $20 to ship. Depending on your ffl fee I'd go new before paying 500 used.

If the safety is installed, make sure you get positive engagement and good resistance on engaging and disengaging. I found the safety detent plate and spring were parts that needed to be replaced semi regularly on my P01 omegas, especially when I was dry-firing / competing with them a significant amount. Fortunately the part is used on the P07/P09 series (which are not discontinued) and relatively cheap and available so if it is bad it is an easy fix.

I would go ahead and replace the recoil spring immediately too, for a used gun it is best to start fresh so you can fully track round count on your spring.
I had a rare issue with a piece chipping off the frame of one of my Omegas after a slide stop failure (see post below for pics). CZ ended up warrantying the frame. So I would check that area of the frame, the gun still ran mosly fine but it was easy to miss after first inspection.

If I bought it and put money replacing parts right off I would just pay the little extra and buy the new one. I got mine used a few months ago for $425. It had no wear on it at all like it had never been shot.

A little late, but I would look for stacking in DA. I felt one at a show with none and I should have jumped on it. I bought one from online for less but tha DA was pretty bad. After a ton of work it’s decent. As with any CZ, buying in person is a big plus.

As with any gun new or used buying in person is a big plus. I in fact won't buy anything I can't handle before purchase
