Title: 1987 CZ 75 Pre B - question on barrel finish
Post by: JCCZPA on January 03, 2024, 12:57:18 PM
I have four CZ 75 Pre B models because I just like the look better without the squared off trigger. I pulled one out of the safe I’ve never fired to inspect and clean it, I’ve probably had it 12-15 years. To my surprise, it appears to be unfired! I say that because there is literally no visible wear on it anywhere—the flat inside the slide that rides on the hammer, the slide rails (you can see that in one of these photos), so I probably won’t fire it.

But after cleaning it I noticed this unusual, gray finish on the barrel which I’ve never seen, the others are all plain steel. What is that finish, does anyone know? The slide and frame look like phosphating, it’s not a painted finish like some of my other specimens.

Thanks in advance if you can shed any light on this. SN is in the 155xxx range.

It looks refinished to me.  I don't believe CZ ever stamped the serial number in large font on the rear of the frame like your gun. It looks unfired after the possible Parkerizing.  The barrel also looks Parkerized.

Some of the importers marked the SN like that along with their usual import mark.
