So what’s the deal with dry firing? I come from striker guns and I’m hearing about the possibility of broken firing pens. Is this a common thing on hammer fired guns or is this a phenomenon unique to the cz.. I’ve also heard a different firing pin from Cajun gun Works won’t have that problem.. I’ve been using snap caps but when you’re doing rapid trigger shooting and you re-racking, I usually eject the snap Cap accidentally

I had a .25 calibre firing pen years ago but I sold it. As far as dry firing goes it's not the firing PIN that is the issue it's the retaining pin that can become damaged. Most people use an o ring under the hammer to cushion the blow so as not to wear on the retaining pin and the addition of a snap cap is also helpful. CGW sells a more robust retaining pin than the factory roll pin but you should still use a snap cap and or o ring when dry firing the P-07/09 and ANY CZ-75 variant that has a firing pin block safety.

It's not just CZ pistols.
If you look you'll find companies that made special/break resistant pins for XD and XDM pistols.
Many manufacturers recommend using snap caps for dry firing. Snap caps protect the firing mechanism parts by absorbing most of the shock of the system working with no primer/brass in the chamber to absorb it.
The o-ring recommended for the CZ hammer fired pistols is actually a very good substitute. Some people even recommend using a red o-ring as it's easier to see and harder to forget and leave in place at the end of your training session.

I've read about the use of O rings and have not been able to figure out where to put them. Could someone please post more information about how to use them or direct me to the information.
I use snap caps in my 40S&W chambered CZs but when I searched 9mm and 45acp locally I come up empty.

check out the barrel blok system. i picked one up from Amazon for $20. it is a plug that goes in the chamber and a plate that goes in the magazine. firing pin/striker is cushioned and nothing gets ejected when you rack the slide.

It's not a CZ thing. Even in Glocks faq it says...
"It’s ok to dry fire your GLOCK pistol, but we recommend using a snap cap or dummy round if you will be dry firing for a long period of time."
Meaning the occasional dry fire is fine but if dry fire is apart of your training then it's a good idea to use a snap cap. This is the concensus across the board...from the research I did years ago.
I use dummy rounds that I found on ebay. They come in different colors, use brass or nickle casing and a real bullet. It feels and weighs like the real thing.
These are similar to what I bought. I keep these in a bag away from real rounds. I dry fire in a room where there are no other guns or ammo.

The "O" ring slips into the space in the slide where the hammer falls. It should depressed side to side as to form an oval and will absorb some of the energy being transferred to the firing pin. I know I've seen references to size here in the forum before.

I use snap caps regularly. Is the O ring better? Or are both just as good?

I like the O ring the best. They are cheap and last forever. Anymore when I get a new pistol I clean and lube it and rack the slide about 50 to 100 times. And clean the mags and load and unload them about 50 times each and they are easier to load after that. That's a lot cheaper than firing 1000 rounds.

If you going to go through the process of buying a snap cap or something then just get a training deceive. I use the G-sight in my P 07 at least 2 times a week to train and it’s a good training tool. I’ve fired at least 2000 rounds with the laser and never had an issue. You can also just buy a cheap bore laser and use the free training setting on the app.
