SA Newbie so please be gentle. Have never owned or fired a SA Pistol so don't want to mess up a New CZ Custom B SA Lower. Should the Safety be engaged while the slide (bolt) is still locked "back"? Then release the slide (bolt ) with the Safety engaged ? Or release first and then engage the Safety ? Does it work the same way with a "Normal " slide such as 9mm or .40 S&W ?

Only engage a CZ 75 safety if the hammer is cocked. Period.

The thumb safety should not engage when the slide is locked back or open. If you safety can be pushed up with the slide back something is wrong with it. I was curious so I just checked two of my SAs and neither one would let the safety engage with the slide back. But if yours does do this I would not suggest you lock the safety and then let the slide go forward. Also if your gun does this you might want to find out why.

If this is a CZ Custom modified SA lower and you are using it with a Kadet II slide I think you should contact CZ Custom and ask them. As everyone has stated under normal operations the Safety is only engaged once the gun is cocked and the hammer is back. If you can operate it differently it’s a safety and possibly a warranty issue.
