New to the platform, impossible to find ANY Tanfoglios in California.i started reading through here but there is so much info. So I ordered CGW only to find out very few are compatible. I have the trs, light safety plunger spring, hammer spring and awaiting reduce power firing pin spring. Is it necessary to replace the actual spring? I see patriot defense has an extended one, but is it necessary for factory ammo? Once i have everything I’m going to polish the trigger action too to have a fine trigger pull.
I guess now i need to get an actual CZ since I have spare parts lol

True, the Tanfoglio Cz style Pistols are not true copies of the Cz75 pattern Pistols. Tanfoglio has seen fit to change dimensions and some of the mechanism. Notably, the Martin Tuma designed Automatic Firing Pin Block Safety, which is superior to the Cz75B version. Hammer/Mainsprings also differ, depending upon manufacture time.
Frame sizes, by Magazine well, also differ. There is the standard 9mm/.40 frame which is also referred to as the Tanfoglio Small Frame. Then there is the .45 ACP/10mm/.38 Super Frame which is also referred to as the Tanfoglio Large Frame.
Buy parts from only knowledgeable and reputable sources.

Yes, so I have a small frame 9mm imported in 93. I’d like to update the sights but I’d have to get it milled. Still not sure what I want for the gun, possibly just update the guts and leave it looking original. Considering its age, although not fired a lot by my uncle (previous owner), i want to replace the springs.
Ordered some parts from cz custom and cgw for it, just waiting for things now.

Patriot Defense is your US poc for anything tanfo related, to include small frame parts. All the tanfos I have are small frame, the only thing that's significantly different are the grips and the firing pin. I'm in CA as well so ping me if you have any additional questions.

Which actual spring are you asking about? If you mean all that you mentioned then, no, it's not necessary. However those springs, along with polishing, will make for a nice improvement. And no, you shouldn't need an extended firing pin.
As has been mentioned, Patriot is the place for Tanfo parts.

@haiedras Honestly I found PD after CGW and CZCustoms but they do have a lot of stuff stocked.where in Cali are you? I’m in LA.
I initially thought it was compatible with the CZs but boy was i wrong.
@mrcabinet I’m replacing hammer spring, trigger return spring, firing pin spring, recoil spring. It’s an old gun and he said he didn’t shoot it much but idk so I’d rather replace.

Yes, it's always wise to replace springs in a used gun, regardless of how little the previous owner swears it was shot. Let us know how it goes, and don't hesitate to ask questions!

I’ve had several guns that I received in pretty grungy condition. I always just give them a good scrub and, as long as the springs aren’t badly misshapen, corroded, or broken, I just reassemble and test fire. If it empties a mag with no problem, I don’t bother with the springs. I have several used Tanfoglios that still have the springs they came with. I spend too much money on guns as it is. ;D Just my $0.02.

That makes sense, just my habit. I do the same with 1911s and springs are not very expensive. This one is pretty grungy with old grease so it will get a good scrubbing too.
I just received the PD firing pin spring today so now I can start working on it.

Ok, I snuck in a quick range trip to hit some steel before work. This is DEFINITELY my new main squeeze. It is so much fun, it ran flawless and all I heard was "plink, plink, plink". I am not a competitive shooter or even a great one by any means but this gun definitely makes it easier lol.
The front sight is part of the slide and even with neon paint, very difficult to see. Is it possible to drill out front sight for fiber optic insert? I love the classic look of it and don't really want it to need refinishing.

Not sure that drilling out the Front Sight for a Fiber Optic insert can be done, as the Metal can be very hard and known to chew up tooling.
There is a sticky above on Fiber Optic Sights.
