Title: Where to get SP-01 Shadow Slide Stops
Post by: Smitty79 on June 14, 2024, 10:08:47 AM
When I was shooting 15k a year, I proactively replaced slides stops annually.   A few years ago, I cut my practice way back.    I'm doing about 5k a year now.    I stopped proactively replacing slides stops.    I broke one recently.    I have spare guns, so I'm still shooting.   But I can't find any available.    I've checked CZ USA, CGW and CZ Custom.    All are out of stock.   Where can I get a couple?

CGW has their version in stock otherwise all you can do is get on the wait lists and keep scouring the web till you find one.

This is crazy.    It's a basic part that can be churned out by the zillions.   They have been unobtainium for years.

So what happened to the dozens that weren't broken that you previously removed ?

I have some.   I don’t want to trust them for matches.   I prefer stock.   I will probably buy after market.   Section match coming soon.

This is crazy.

In your shoes, I'd stop thinking of them as used and possibly faulty, and start to think of them as "pre-tested" parts.

I fully understand why you previously replaced them. As a research engineer having worked in destructive test labs for several Fortune 500 companies, I truly do. But as I see it, you can sit at home and complain, or go shoot with pre-tested slide stops.

I can also tell you that "new parts" can be just as prone to breakage, and so they are NOT the guarantee you might think. What if these older "in house" parts were handed off to a third party maker, say in China. CZ might be selling them, and they could be exact copies, but only good for an average of 8000 rounds. You never know.

And let's not forget that slide stop breakage has many, many causes. You are basing your prevention program on internet sources. And you do not know what all those people were shooting (bullet weights or loads), or their specific gun setup. So your cause for alarm, while on the surface a wise one, could be totally based on an apples-to-oranges comparison.

I agree, CZ should support their older firearms. All I'm saying is that I don't see the urgency. It's not like you have 3 pistols sitting at home and all 3 have broken slide stops.
