Title: Woodcock 20ga 26 or 28"
Post by: Firesource on November 14, 2006, 06:19:50 PM

Looking for a little advice..... Plan on purchasing the 20 ga Woodcock and will hunt most often for pheasants, chukar and quail (85% pheasants).

Anyone care to share their opinion on 26 or 28" barrels?

            I'd appreciate any thoughts.

            Thanks.

I have used both. The 26" is light, can be carried all day long, and offers advantage in tighter cover and hilly terrain. I find the 28" to be slightly more "classical" in appearance and it swings just about perfectly in more open, flatter terrain.  Great for flushed birds at 30+ yards. Consider the terrain you may be hunting in most often and you may have a start to a good answer.
