I decided to give my 97B a new look, so I modeled the grips and 3D printed a set in orange and a set in blue:

For some reason, the backing reflects thru when printed, but I don't mind. I like both colors and how they feel. I may end up putting some grip tape on them, but for now, I like the solid color.

Those look pretty smooth in the photos, but if they work for you... great.
-
Did you develop the .STEP files yourself, or download them from a public directory ?
I ask, only because I'd like to try a set too.
-
Wobbly,
I modeled them in Blender, and then exported them to *.stl files. I use the CURA slicer. I can export to 3mf, and maybe some others. Give me your email address and I'll send them to you.
I did get a little off on some of my adjustments when modeling, so I had to put in a slight notch for the mag release on the right grip. Other than that, they fit just fine.

Don't own a 97. Just thought if you had downloaded the file, it might have been from a public CZ handgun directory with other grip models.
But thanks for your reply.

A google search for CZ grip stl returns quite a few hits for various CZ models.
I originally had downloaded a CZ97 grip stl, but the model was a bit different in shape, wasn't very "clean" internally and didn't print out very well. I tried to clean it up a bit, but couldn't get anything I liked. My version, while not prefect, is much better.
I made a template for grip tape if I decide to apply some:

Doesn't look too bad!

I did add the grip tape. I like it with and without. I'll leave it on for a while, and then decide if I'll leave it on or take it off.

Wanted to see what green grips would look like:

They look pretty good too!
That's probably all I'll do for now. I think my favorites are the green and orange, though I'll probably use the blues from time to time.

Ha! Now you're set to sail anytime with Port and Starboard markers !! O0

Good one!
The right side now has the green grip installed. I had made some minor refinements and printed the left side first. Thought it would be interesting showing the backstrap with green and orange grips.
Did you notice that the vertical cuts on the backstrap were poorly made? They look to be offset from the center.
Anyway, full speed ahead!

Still working on my modeling skills, so I made a mag base:

I only have PETG filament in colors, so I won't be using this base, but it does look good with the grips.

I've decided to make a set of these grips for the first person with $7 for shipping in the U.S. of A. to say I'll take'em! I'll include some of the grip tape and template.
I've been carrying my 97B since I made these grips. I typically rotate with my SR1911 LWC and Browning BDM, but I really like the look and feel of these grips. I'll have to carry the other two sometime down the line as I don't want to keep a pistol that I don't carry, but it may be a while!

I had another 3D print project that used red filament, so when it was completed, I printed a red set of grips while I recreated the base in FreeCad, which I'm just learning:

The red isn't too much different than the orange. I still prefer the orange and green grips.

What printer are you using? It's fun to make things you normally couldn't isn't it?!
I have modelled and printed a number of things for CZ's. Currently I'm running a custom trigger in my S2 and TSO's since I have large hands.
I have designed and printed extended mag bases for TSO magazines but I haven't used them for fear of them failing when dropped.
Have you tried to add palm swell to your grip design yet? How about texture? That is when the modelling gets more challenging.
Cheers,
Toby

Toby,
I have a Creality Ender-3 S1 Pro. Has worked well for me, and yes, it is an enjoyable hobby.
I've made quite a few gun parts such these grips and grips for the Star BM and the Browning BDM. I've also made mag bases for the BM, BDM, the Beretta PX4 compact and the S&W CSX.
For max strength on the mag bases, I use Polymaker CoPA nylon, with the bases standing on the back end so the layers are perpendicular to the mag tube rails. I also print the grips standing on end to get the best print. As noted above, the 97B bases are printed using PETG and are for show only. The nylon is fairly expensive at about $50 for 750g, but it is worth it.
I've considered adding palm swells, just not sure about the best way to do it. For now, I like the thin grips with grip tape. I added texture to the BDM grip backstap and the sides:

I used geometry nodes in Blender to get the stars and 47 on the sides. The backstrap isn't very grippy, but it works. I haven't printed this one off to see if the stars add any real grip improvement.

Yeah for functional parts I use Nylon X. It is bomber and stiff so it works well in demanding applications. I still don't think I'd use nylon x mag bases in competition. It's hard on the printer nozzle so you have to have a hardened nozzle.
My first printer was an Ender 3 V2 that I've modified heavily. I now have a Sovol SV08 that is sporting a 0.6 nozzle (and may get upgraded to a 0.8 nozzle soon) and that does my big prints (fast!). I struggled with Nylon X using their hardened nozzle so I still use my Ender for nylon x/functional part printing.
It's a super satisfying hobby for sure. The printers have more than paid for themselves with all the stuff they have either repaired or eliminated the need to purchase. If you reload you should go check out the cast boolits forum where they have a giant thread on printing your own bullet and brass collators. I have printed four of them and they work great! The user interface for the build sheet is really nice, it just spits out what you need to print and the settings you need to use on each part. It is really well thought out.
Cheers,

Just for the heck of it, I re-installed the aluminum grips.
They just didn't feel right compared to my printed grips. The stair step transition on the backs don't feel as good as the rounded, smooth transition on my grips, and the texturing on the sides doesn't really do much to improve the grip compared to the grip tape. I'm still pondering adding palm swells, though I don't really need them.
My CZ97B has been my preferred carry pistol these past 5-weeks, only being displaced for short periods when I needed to pocket carry the CSX.
