Title: Converting a SAO RAMI back to DA/SA
Post by: Snarlos Halfcock on January 11, 2025, 06:01:19 PM
So, to make a long story, just as long.
I bought a SAO RAMI with the intention of converting back to the original configuration of SA/DA.
How much trouble am I in for?

You might want to contact Cajun gun Works

Huh -

Not sure what would possess anyone to convert a Rami to SAO, but it looks like Cajun Gun Works provides the parts and service for that operation. Hopefully you already have the parts to change it back to SA / DA, otherwise they might be hard to get from CZ- USA.

I guess someone was into carry like that.
The trigger will pull a good 1/4” to 1/2” before firing. So it is not like a hair trigger, but still like carrying a pet rattlesnake in your pocket.

AND it a real sweet reset.
Hopefully CGW has a solution. The gun is like new except for the flat trigger mod.

You’ll need a DA/SA trigger, disconnector, and likely a hammer. Might as well buy a pro-kit from CGW. Pics would help to see exactly what parts your gun has. A half inch is a lot of travel for a good SAO conversion.

“Like carrying a pet rattlesnake in your pocket” LOL 😝

I’m a De-cocker fan, myself, but not THAT kind of “De-cocker”!!

I figured SAO conversions were more for competition — maybe there is some carry gun competition for the Rami to participate in?

I’ve shot mine in IDPA bug matches, but it’s a de-cocker model. I’ve considered picking up a safety model for SAO conversion. With a wide safety it would handle similar to a subcompact 2011.

I'd like picture of the gun/internals.  Did they just remove the disconnector and not install a SAO trigger?  With that much pretravel, maybe they just pulled the disconnector out?

Depending on what you want to do with this RAMI, a pro package is the premium solution.  As mentioned, you just need a disconnector (and maybe a trigger) to make it DA/SA again.  There are other nice to have parts in the pro package but it depends on what your after.

SAO conversions/actions aren't generally legal in most divisions in USPSA.  You have certain divisions that you can start locked and cocked but the RAMI would not be competitive in them (at least not in my hands:)).

Cheers,
Toby

Just to follow up, it cost $400.
Upgraded to fiber optic sights.

I really like the CGW trigger. Perfect contour.

The RAMI is still a big gun, especially when compared to the Officers ACP.
