So I have a poly compact in 10MM and I bought a 40S&W barrel for it. When firing with the 40 barrel the second round fires then locks up with what looks like the barrel jammed into the bottom of the slide where the barrel goes through. with the 10MM barrel its fine. I mic'd the barrel and compared the two and besides the caliber they are the same. Anyone run into this

You most likely have a 40 caliber barrel for a small frame pistol, the 10 mm is large frame. If so, they are not compatible. Discontinue using the 40 caliber barrel in the 10 mm slide immediately if this is the case.

I thought all compacts where small frame? No??

Nope! There were also the Tanfoglio Large Frame Compact Pistols.
Large Frame denotes compatibility for the .45 ACP, 10mm, and .38 Super/9x25mm
Small Frame denotes compatibility for the 9x19mm/Luger, .40 S&W, and .41AE(long obsolete)
To further muddy the waters, there were Conversion Kits to allow the Large Frame Pistols to use 9x19mm/Luger and .40 S&W Cartridges.
Tanfoglio Caliber Conversion kits proved to be not cost effective for the USA Market, but are still sold in European Markets where the quantity of firearms one may own, is more restricted.

This is mostly just a guess based on what I think you are saying. It sounds like the camming cut on the .40 barrel is too long allowing the barrel to cam down too far. I know what you want to so is possible, I have 9mm, .40 and 10mm barrels that run in a .40 slide on a large compact poly frame.
