Title: Canvasback
Post by: mbott on October 07, 2005, 05:08:44 PM
Anyone here happen to know what the "street" price of a 12 guage Canvasback is running?  Would kind of like to get a nice shotgun and this one has caught my eye.

I hate to say this, but I saw some at a gun show, and I think you would be better off with the new Mossberg Silver Reserve line. Much nicer fit and finish.

Hmmm, interesting.  That's the same thing I heard about the Mossy Silver Reserve.  :)

Local dealer has the Silver Reserve on sale at $399 and is exactly what got me thinking about an O/U in the first place.  Maybe I'll have to check it out anyway.

If money is an issue (and I know for most of us it is), I think this is the way to go. If it is not an issue, then go straight for a Browning O/U.

Looked at one of the Silver Reserves today.  Not bad at all.  Fit and finish were acceptable.  However, A little research on my part found that the choke tubes may be a bit weak.  Guess I'll just keep looking to see what's out there.

I think that unless you buy a top-dollar shotgun most factory choke tubes are crap. I usually buy after market tubes no matter which gun I get anyway.
