As part of the One Big Beautiful Bill, the tax collected on suppressors will drop to $0 beginning Jan. 1, 2026. For now the other requirements remain in place.

Yep! and the cost of a suppressor will increase by $250 now since they know purchasers have that extra cash they didn't have to send the gov.

A step in the right direction but I’ll wait until I don’t need permission.
-
Well, it's a start. Now to remove the NFA completely!

Maybe not....
Without the tax, people will be free to make their own. Which would include "3D printing" their own. Therefore, anyone with a 3D printer would be free to print 3 or 4 per day and sell them on eBay. They'd be so cheap that no one would bother to clean suppressors any more.... they'd just throw them in the trash.
Prices might come crashing down as the big makers try to keep up with the private market. Or a free suppressor might be included with every pistol equipped with a threaded barrel. So something is going to change in a big way. And BIG changes have a way of bringing along surprise endings. [Consider how a superfluity of $100 drones has turned the "world's second largest army" into the laughingstock of the world. Who would have imagined that 5 years ago.]
Consider that.

Yes but a person is still subject to all other aspects of NFA just not the $200 tax the way I understand it. https://www.silencershop.com/blog/hearing-protection-act-2025
