Is the SP01 forged steel or cast?
-
As far as I know,it's a cast.
-
I've not heard, either way -- but since the P-01 is forged, I would suspect the SP-01 might be forged, too.
I'm sure ANGUS would know. Anyone ask him?
(I think its an academic question, anyway, as CZs are noted for robust frames, either way.)

The CZ 75 SP01 is cast, its frame. The slide is forged and also the barrel.
-
Definitely cast, at least the frame is. Want to see the pics from the factory? Just visit http://www.rustyhubbard.com/tour.html
Here's a teaser: the wax SP-01 frames ready for casting...

Nice find.
Those yellow frames might be synthetic forms, from which the moulds would first be made. The actual steel frame would then be cast from those moulds. You can see what might be the sprue sticking out of the butt.
D'oh. 01-TAC, now I notice that you correctly described them as being wax. Sure enjoyed seeing the factory pictures, that's a treat. The place looks like what I imagine a very old behind the iron curtain factory might look like. Nothing shoddy about what they turn out though.

Take your slide off and look inside the frame and you'll see the number of the mould that was used.
-
The slide is machined. The frame is cast, then the rail is machined into it. Barrel is machined.

Hey, this is really cool. CZ has a video of the 75B frame being investment forged under their production capabilities website. Check out the video:

It takes a little time to load but it's cool.
