Title: recoil spring weight
Post by: avalanche on April 09, 2009, 09:55:41 PM
I had a couple of stovepipes shooting blazer brass 115 gr. and the range last week(sp-01 tac.).  I'm using the stock 18# spring that comes with this gun.  I would like to get a spring that's good for shooting 115 gr. ball(because that's what's easiest to find) that would also work well with 124 gr. gold dots. Thinking of getting a 15# or 16# spring.  For the HD ammo I would like to use 124+P but if the  spring is more compatible with 115 range ammo I'm willing to use 115 gr. or 124gr. standard pressure gold dots.   I did read the FAQs on spring weight, which was helpful, but it didn't address this issue too specifically.  Any thoughts?

thanks

I've done a little shooting with the 14 lb spring in my phantom.  It works very well with the 115 gr rounds.  The muzzle comes up more with the 124 gr rounds.  I ordered a 16 lb spring to see how that does with the 124 gr rounds.  A 15 lb spring may be a happy medium for both.
