Title: Phantom Slide Stop
Post by: PTGT_Neon on April 13, 2009, 11:57:46 PM
Is there a Slide Stop that does not protrude on the right side of the Phantom?

Will this work?

I own a Phantom and a P-01.  I also happen to have a spare P-01 slide stop as a back up part (same one you show).  The P-01 slide stop fits and functions in the Phantom and the right tip is perfectly flush with the frame, whereas the tip of the Phantom slide stop protrudes 3mm.  The P-01 slide stop dry cycles and locks back the slide on an empty magazine like normal (did not fire it).  The inner lug on the P-01 slide stop is about 0.7mm shorter than the Phantom slide stop, so it has that much less purchase on the mag follower; it does not slide off the follower, but there is slightly less purchase.  I suppose the P-01 slide stop would have better bullet clearance, but that is not a problem with the Phantom slide stop.

I prefer the stock Phantom slide stop as the protruding tip makes it easier to field strip with any (non-marring) flat surface tool.  With the P-01 slide stop, one needs a narrow non-marring tool (like the tip of the red plastic cleaning rod) to push it out.

Wow!  That was very helpful!

My primary interest in it was to be able to draw it from the holster and leave the holster behind.  The phillips end on my swiss knife should make field stripping without marring pretty easy.

And thanks for the heads up on the 0.7mm shorter seat.

The P-01 slide stop may solve your holster fitting problem, as the right end is flush and does not protrude.  The P-01 slide stop is still fully supported (by the metal insert inside the polymer frame).  However, I would not use a Phillips head screw driver as a push tool.  If the tool slips, it could scratch the polymer frame.  I would use a soft plastic pusher, like the red plastic cleaning rod.

Ok.  That's easy enough.  So its not indented in the center like the Phantom slide stop?

There is a dimple on the tip of the P-01 slide stop, but it is not as big as the one on my Phantom slide stop.  The dimple helps center a push tool.  Witht the protruding Phantom slide stop I can disassemble with a flat tool or even a table top surface.

That slide stop was just what I was looking for!  Wonderful fit.  It's easy to remove with the phillips end of my swiss knife without marring the plastic surface.
