Title: P07 & P09 YouTube Reviews
Post by: Bimmer1 on May 08, 2009, 02:36:57 AM
I am not affiliated with this sales warehouse.  I decided to do a search tonight to see if anyone had posted any youtube videos on the P07 Duty and I found this one.

Not a bad little review!!!

Not a bad review at all. I share his concern about the front sight...seems a bit badly designed and manufactured. I also have issue with that funky combat sight that wants to be a target sight. CZ should have just used the same rear sight design as on the CZ-75, just in polymer, and offered metal night sights as an option (If you hear me night sight manufacturers...get on that). I did see two CZ P-07 Duty's at my local Academy Sports store...was tempted to pick it up, but I was low on funds temporarily...

Not a bad job for CZ ......  but it reminds me too much of that other pitstol the with the "G" letter!    :P  I chose CZ because they stand apart from the others ........

Other than the poly frame, the P-07 has little in common with the G-guns.The CZ is hammer-fired, has great ergonomics for everyone but people with the smallest hands, has real safeties (multiple), and fires DA/SA. The G-gun is striker fired, has horrible ergonimics for everyone, Only has that trigger safety, and becase its striker fired is DAO. You really can't have 2 more different polymer framed guns.

Post by: harbormaster on May 30, 2009, 04:36:00 PM

I bought a P-07 about 3 weeks ago. This is my first CZ gun. I've put about 400 rounds of various makes of ammo thro it with 1 jam. I've shot it at the indoor range of my gun club and have found it to be accurate and really comfortable to shoot......it's a gun that is a great pointer.....just feels right in the hand. The SA trigger pull is light and crisp. The DA is not heavy and awkward. The sights could be improved upon. I'd have preferred the matching of 3 white circles buy I can't say I didn't shoot my normal score. The recoil is very maneagable especially considering the weight of the gun. Prior to this P-07 I had been shooting .22 cal target guns and heavy caliber (.44 mag revolver and 7mm TCU) at silhouette targets out to 200 meters in the past. This is a fun gun to shoot and not so large so it can't be a decent conceal carry if you choose to use it for that.

Welcome to the forum and to the CZ club.  ;D   The first CZ I ever held was a 75B.  Fell in love with it and when I saw and read the reviews of the P-07, I had to have one.  I put a couple of hundred rounds through it so far and love it.  It is a great gun and feels great in your hands.

Happy shooting!

What the hell were they thinking when they designed that trigger guard?

The Czech police use this gun.  It gets COLD in the Czech Republic.  This trigger guard is perfect for slipping a gloved finger into and being able to still control the trigger.

I have had mine for a couple of months now.  Really nice gun and it is replacing my CZ-75 Compact for carry. Too bad the you tube reviewer know nothing about CZs, the CZ has been using the same front sight dovetail arrangement since the beginning and i never heard of the front blade falling out. Also I love the box and dot system they used. In Europe this is a more common set up, which is why it is also found on Glocks (which I hate with a passion).  I wish they had a deal with MMC/PT Nightsights to make the box and dot with tritium.

Also the reviewer failed to mention that you can take out the assinine decocker and put in a standard thumb safety for SA use. The parts are included with the gun and it takes less then 5 minutes to do the swap.  Cool beans!!!

Anyway I love the gun and the Omega Trigger.

Speak for yourself, I like the de-cocker for carry reasons.

And a 'frame rail for your tac-light or pistol bayonet'. Nice. That pistol bayonet sounds like a must-have, Homer Simpson kind of item.

Oh man, oh man, do I ever love my P07 in 40. I own both an SP-01 and the P07. The ergonomics are completely different, both very nice, but to me the P07 feels slightly better.

I bought my first CZ a couple of weeks ago. I had been reading the reviews and found them to be mostly mixed but overall good. I have a Glock 19 but it is not my favorite. My two favorites are my Steyr M9-A1 and my Sig Saur P226 MK25. The Steyr is my favorite shooting handgun but it does throw a casing at my face and neck on occasion. But I never fail to hit the target exactly where I point it.
I quickly put about 300 rounds through the CZ P-07 and feel just as comfortable with its accuracy and feel as the Steyr. I think that in the future it will either be a CZ day or a Steyr day. The Sig is fantastic but heavy with some outfits and may be too bulky in the Texas summer heat with light short sleeves and polo shirts.
Has anyone removed the lanyard holder on the bottom? Thinking about it. I rarely sell my firearms (the one exception was my Walther PPK/S). It just hurt my hand after 50-100 rounds and I refuse to carry something that I don't feel 100% comfortable with shooting. I have Arthritis in my thumbs and the PPK/S just beat me up too much and even left a scab.
All in all; I prefer the ergonomics of the CZ and put it in the same class as the Steyr (well, close anyway).
BTW- every holster I have for the FNX-9 also fits the CZ P-07 9mm so when you search for the CZ P-07 comes up blank ....try the FNX-9 but save your receipt just in case it doesn't.

Nice videos. Even that last one. Nutnfancy makes good videos, just wish he had tried a 9mm P07. Video is kind of old to. I had more issues with my G19 in the 3 months that I owned than I have ever had with the 07. Granted it was only 2, but 0 still beats 2 in this case.

Not really problematic. Brass kept hitting me in the forehead, and the trigger pin worked out on me in the first few hundred rounds. That was fixed by pushing back in. There was a cop on the range that day that is also a Glock armorer, and he messed with it for awhile. Couldn't find anything wrong with it. Shot a few hundred more rounds without issue. The brass to the head, well that was something I just had to deal with. No major issues, and the one was easily solved. Just 2 more issues than Ive had with the P07.

Yeah I've had the brass problem myself with some of the cheaper ammo. Most of it was 9mm surplus ammo and magtech. No problems with the 500 rounds on winchester nato.

Thanks for posting these videos! I'm interested in buying a P-07 and eventually a P-09 but no local ranges have them to rent. I know the ergonomics differ between CZ and "g." I've been shooting "G"s since my first hand gun and slow getting more CZ's. I have and sp-01 from czc that I shoot comps with and I love the balance. This is why I'm looking into the 07 / 09 for my next gun.

I really like the P07.  Had one in .40 but want to stick with 9mm so I traded it.  I want to grab another in 9mm eventually.  Hope to save up enough scratch to grab one from Cajun Gun Works.  That would be sweet.

While I don’t plan to run my p07 in anything near those conditions, I’d be lying if I said the torture tests by MAC didn’t play a role in me ordering one. Now the wait begins for it to ship and hopefully process my paperwork next week!
