I'm fairly new to the gun world and just took my VZ58 out for the first time.
All I can say is "WOW"
This gun kind of surprised me at first. I thought the shot was going to be a lot weaker than it was. Upon first shooting the gun, I missed almost every target. This was due to my lack of skills. I then put it on a sandbag and shot very consistently. This gun has great accuracy and is a ton of fun. I also got to shoot my brother's CZ 75BD. Very smooth gun. Can't wait to go out again.
Quick question: How frequently should i clean/oil the gun.

Clean and lightly oil every time you go shooting. The VZ-58 IS designed as a combat rifle, and will probably shrug off infrequent maintenance, but why push it? Mine is also quite awesome, best semi-auto rifle I have owned yet.

Great rifle you have! Good to hear you like it. I clean mine after everytime I go shooting. Old habit. Which model stock do you have the polymer sporter model or the military sporter model? Regards, Dusty

I have the polymer sporter Hi-cap. I want to get a folding stock for it though.

CZ-USA has the folding AR collapsable stock and pistol grip, a bit pricey, but they are there. I would lovve to get the Galil style folder from Israel, but pricey and a long ways to ship.

3000 plus rounds through mine and not even a hiccup. Was able to hit a 18 inch steel plate a 220 with no problem (iron sights and red dot)

how often to clean it depends on how clean you want it. If you just want it to always work, you rarely if ever need to clean it. If you want it to stay nice, clean it briefly whenever you shoot.

The more I read about the VZ 58, the more my wallet starts to twitch!
