Hello all,
First time poster here. Thank you for having me aboard.
I'm hoping someone can answer this for me.
Is it possible to get a SP01 in single action only, or to convert one to single action only?
This has probably been asked a million times, but I'm a newbie, and know virtually nil about CZ pistols.
Thank you.

Yes, it can be converted to SA only....or if you are willing to live with the trigger pre-travel required for DA, it can just be used SA only.
-
Who would be the smith to contact about converting a SP01 to single action only? Anyone know who's capable of doing this particular conversion?
Thanks

CZ Custom Shop and Miossi Gun Works are two that come to mind. Many of us here at the forum have performed that conversion ourselves. It's pretty simple. If you want to undertake it we can walk you through the basics.

Why bother? You can compete with one by holstering it in Condition 1
- just like a 1911.
When the buzzer sounds, flick off the safety during the presentation. All that's left is the SA pull which is a crisp 3# or so right from the factory. Some here finessed their SA pulls down to 2# iirc.
-
I believe for some the benefit of the the flat or flatter trigger that is a shorter reach is worth the trade off of not having the second strike capability of the double action pull.
-
I think you'd be hard pressed to find any stock SP01 pistols that have a 3lb. s.a.pull in stock, unaltered condition. 6 to 7 lbs. is more likely.
-
The reason to bother is for a better trigger than you have felt on any gun you've ever fired. My SPO1 is an OPEN class gun and my trigger pull is at about a pound and a half and has a total travel of no more than an 1/8th of an inch. The SA trigger on my gun has a pre travel and overtravel set screw.

This would be a defensive gun. I wouldn't be using it for shooting any competitions. 8)
And I hate DA/SA pistols.

The Shadow from an SA start only needs 3/8" of pre-travel (with a considerably shortened reach). I measured 3# of effort for a crisp clean break. This is all factory, no trigger work at all save for lots of rounds and dryfire.

See above reply re: a measured 3lb SA pull: all stock factory parts and no trigger work whatsoever, on a Shadow.

Shadow is a completely different animal than the std SP01 and Tactical. geometry on the hammer is night and day difference between the two.
so what is capable on a factory Shadow is not the same on a factory SP01/SP01 tactical. they can both be made better, but do not start the same.

Thanks for the clarification.
Obviously I only know one type of SP-01 and not the others.

you know the right one... The Shadow rocks

Just converted mine to single action only, received the parts from CZ Custom Wednesday and finished it up today. Trigger breaks at 2 lbs. 7 oz. Also put the sights on.
