I know this will bring some hot responses but has anyone got any suggestions for sights on a shadow other than factory fibre. I'm having acquisition troubles maintaining the front fiber between the rear(centered). If I could get a slightly wider front fiber it may help...thoughts

I use just a plain black sight..serrate it and am good to go.
great speed, great accuracy for me.

How about xs sights? Although afaik it's not legal if you use your shadow in ipsc and uspsa, and some swear by it up to 10 meters only. But this guy on youtube doesn't seem to have a problem with xs sights on his glock up to 100 yards.

Anyway, hope it helps.

I didn't know a Glock could do that!

thats indeed cool zen - but I want a sight that will allow me in IPSC . The front fiber would be fine if the rear sight picture was custom sized to my vision. I;m prolly being too picky with my 25yd groups but thought there may be an approved replacement for the fixed rear

Resops, according to officials on the IPSC World forum,
"Any 'open sight' is legal provided you don't mill the slide."

tx MC -gotta look into them :P

I can't believe the video. That?s remarkable shooting at 100 yds.
-
I think a rock steady hand and a very strong arm have more to do with the accuracy than the sight.
-
I couldn't believe it either.
So at the range I walked 7 rounds toward the 6" 100 yard gong.
Only by concentrating on a perfect straight-back pull, with a perfect grip, would the rounds stay near the gong. Any weakness in grip or pull, and the rounds would be off by 2', 3'. The seventh went 'bing'.
No miracle there if you walk them in to learn what the exact sight picture is. That a 124gr PF:130 cast bullet would do that was the biggest surprise.
The interesting part of the exercise was that it revealed that my grip and my pull are in need of improvement. I'll work on those, and will be rewarded by more As and fewer Charlies and Deltas at 7 yards and beyond.

I'm really impressed! 1 in 7 at 100 yards? I need to go practice!

They're definately important...but everyones vision(perception) is different. Having to ensure the front fiber is centered perfectly in the rear fixed set is equally as important. I know for me there is a large space in the rear window that has to be equally divided on both sides of the front fiber. Any error in that division is amplified ten-fold+ at 25yds.
MC at 100yds instictive reasoning (and physics) are more apt to aid in hitting a pan than fixed sights on a pistol.(in my mind) Where exactly is your sight aimed at? (I understand you were walking them in-thus the instictive apsect)
I had my bro-in-law out Monday to our range. His first time shooting a pistol and let me tell you it changed years of perception of what the good guys / bad guys on TV can do with a pistol on the run, shooting out of cars, helicopters, etc.

Nope. Not 1 in 7.
The story is that it took 7 rounds to walk one into the 100 gong. Once hit, I stopped. I've no idea what the hit frequency might be.

My instincts said to aim a couple feet over the gong. They were wrong as the bullet hit high and left. I corrected. By the fourth shot, I was aiming right at the gong, covering its 6" diameter with the Shadow's fiber optic frt. sight. The dirt was flying very close to the target. I concentrated on my grip and on splitting the rear sight with the front - the 7th round rung it.
I'll try and run that round's ballistics through software and see if this is actually possible. Had no idea the trajectory could be so useful. Can this be replicated, probably, but not with any level of consistency.
Be interesting if others here gave it a try and reported their findings.

MC,
The above chart shows a 1.7" drop @ 100yds with a 124gr. although I would have guessed more. I'll have to bring the sandbags out on my next run and try putting the sight dead on a 6" plate at 100yds.
We have 4' x 4' white backboards so I'll try and see where I end up.
I like the looks of the XS sight system though ;)

On the other hand who needs sights anyway if one can shoot like this guy or gal. :D

I read about fistfire a few months ago from other forums. There's quite a heated debate about it. Anyway here's a link to the fistfire site:
