Well, I spent a couple of hours in my shop putting the 97 back together when I should have been doing real work and making money. What's wrong with my priorities anyway?

Aside from the satin nickel the changes are CZ Custom comp rear sight and the aluminum grips that dusty10 sold me. I'm using the stock front sight as I suspect the 6.5mm f.o. is going to shoot low. I'll see when I get to the range.

Those grips look good! Glad they worked out for you. Dusty

How much thinner do those aluminum grips make the gun feel vs. the stock walnut grips? Before I buy them I am looking for feedback.
Thanks.

The aluminum grips feel significantly thinner than the stock wood grips to me.

Black grips have always looked nice on a stainless pistol ....... especially when they're aluminum. Very sweet gun. Hope it shoots as well as it looks ..... but being a CZ.... it will !

I think your priorites are right where they need to be. I think it's gorgeous, I have always liked the "stainless" look, where its nickel, hard chrome, or stainless. What you have there is a one-off, one of a kind, "what the hell is that", custom.
Very well done. The Cajun approves ;D
Edited: I should have mine back together this week as well. I'll post a series of pics on the slide machining and subsequent fitting and installation of the barrel bushing. It won't look as good as Jack Straws; I just hope a bullet can leave the barrel when I'm through.

I got down to the range this morning and shot 50 rounds of slow fire. Boy oh boy do I like that comp rear sight. It's just a perfect sight picture and that's all there is to it. The slightly deeper and wider notch is just what I like.
As I suspected, the 5.5mm stock front sight worked right for my 200 gr. 850 fps loads. I use a 6 o'clock hold on the 25yd. bullseye and this combination was centering my group in the lower third of the black. After a little more shooting I may actually lower the sight to 5.0mm which should center the impact at the X ring. I'd like to use a fiber optic front but I don't think Angus has one that short.

I put 50 rounds through my 75B with the Kadet kit as well; this is a great shooting .22 with a great feel, not too light, not too heavy. I'm actually surprised at how nice it is. ;D
schmeky, thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you like it. BTW, you were absolutely right about the comp sight.

Looking really good Jack Straw - I love the nickel look, sorry I missed you at the range today. I did end up going to an indoor range late today (~ 7 PM) and put some rounds through my 97B. I'm so impressed with this pistol - I'm absolutely loving it.
BTW, I replaced the FO front sight (6.5 mm) with the stock front sight (5.5 mm, I believe) and its hitting POA more or less. Its interesting to note that the 97B's seem to like lower front sights with the tactical rears.
BTW, did I mention that the nickel finish looks sweet?? :)

I like the way your 97B turned out. Good shooting.

Jack,
That is a fine looking pistol. We have not run into each other in a while, hopefully I will catch you at the range one of these days.

SDJOE,
Glad you like the "new clothes" on the 97. Projects that come out the way you want them to are very satisfying.
You need to meet CADiver, another San Diegan who is a new 97 fanatic. I introduced him to the San Diego Police Range a week or two ago and he was quite taken by the place, especially after mostly shooting at indoor ranges.
I'll be down there this coming Sunday around 10:30. Hope to see you there.

Everybody likes the Police Range after they have dealt with the indoor ranges.

Hello Jack,
Where did you have the satin nickel done on your 97B? I'm thinking to have it done on my Colt 1903, but if it turns out as nice as yours, I'll have it done as well on my 97B
Let me know. I live in SoCal as well. Thanks

I had the satin nickel done my Mac's in Tucson. Here's the link to his site; http://www.shootiniron.com/#.
I sent the slide and frame with all the internal parts removed which saved me a little money. Mac is very nice to deal with and I had the parts back in about three weeks.
Several forum members have used Mac for finish work. I'll be sending my 75B to him soon.
