Is the front sight post on a VZ58 close in design to an AK front post? There are numerouse AK Tritium front posts out there. I know this is a sophomoric question, but since I never have had any dealings with an AK, besides dodging incoming, I don't know. Thanks for your help.

The only thing AK that is interchangeable with the vz-58 is the ammunition. I don't know if night sights are avilable or not.

The vz.58 front sight will not interchange with an AK. I personally confirmed this with one of my Hungarian SA85Ms. Armoredman is correct, the only thing interchangeable is the ammunition.

I compared the two and the AK-47 sight post is larger. I have been thinking about this and I am fairly positive that one could remove the front sight pin. After the pin is removed one could open up the hole and re-thread it to fit the AK sight. If you have access to a lathe you could make a front sight pin that would accommodate the AK sight. One of my buddies has one but I do not have time to mess with it right now much less the money for a tritium sight.

Guys, you forget that the sling interchanges and you can use the cleaning kit from one rifle on the other... ;)

You know, 20yr ago a weapon like the VZ58 would have been quite contemporary, however, today with, NVG, Reflex Sights, Lasers, etc. We sometimes forget the genius of simplicity. I can live without the Tritiums on my VZ58. That's my M4 is for. Hey, in the dark, after the first round, you couldn't find the glowing dot anyway.

Actually the military slings are differant, and so are the cleaning kits, as the AKs stores in the butt, and the vz does not. :) I know, splitting hairs.
This rifle was the first I felt worth putting some gee gaws on, and it has proved its worth to me.
