Title: Different triggers in SP-01 / advantage or not
Post by: Apetrulis01 on March 30, 2010, 07:18:43 PM
I noticed that people put the CZ 85 trigger (silver trigger) in the SP-01 when custom work is done. Is there an advantage over the stock SP-01 trigger (Black trigger)?

Thanks,
Adam

Its subjective. I prefer the older 85c trigger's feel. The overtravel stop shortens the travel and feels like it helps me shoot faster. I have not timed my splits yet but I drew and fired 8 shots from surrender at 4 metric targets in 2.4 with it.

Yep - it's an advantage if it suits you better.

Removing overtravel does give you a technical advantge for target shooting, but the difference is generally insignifcant for the practical games most of us here play.

My preferences, in order:
1 - Old-style 85C
2 - Old-style 75
3 - Recurve P01/SP01 style
4 - New-style 75/85 (I absolutely hate the feel of these)

the trigger of the SP01 has more curve to it. some people with thick fingers..the bottom of the trigger will bite into the finger and its not very comfortable.

I have a stainless 75B and I hate the feel of the standard trigger, so I swapped it for a trigger from scrapped 75.
The newer trigger are thinner which feels awkward to my finger and in single action mode it's closer to the frame, which I dislike.

Is one better then the other for people with smaller hands?

Thanks,
Adam

the new black recurve trigger that came on my '08 sp-01 has a shorter reach than the 85 combat trigger i put on.

I would think the new Re-Curve trigger work better for those with small hands or shorter fingers because the curve moves the the finger contact point back closer to the grip upon take up in double action and even more so once in single action.

I like 85/Shadow trigger as well. The reasons are: 1) less curve - more room to adjust trigger finger position on the trigger, up or down for comfort and leverage; 2) overtravel adjustment.
